WOW, I had no idea. I'm sorry for the loss, but much happier to hear everyone is OK. You are right, at the end of the day it is only a car. You'll have something in its place I'm sure soon and it'll be just as good if not better. Best of luck to you Ben!

Thanks! I hope it's better. Or faster at least

Yeah, like that. But preferably without that motor and tranny adding so much cost.

Fair enough. The RA gears are good for like 400whp.... which I'm sure you'll just build it big the first time.

There's more, here and here

I'm sure you'll figure it out. A buddy of mine just sold his sti for cheap. Would have been perfect! It had a new motor too.

I don't really want an STI and I definitely don't want one with a built motor. Blown motor and/or trans would be best to save cost. Only draw to an STI is the 6 speed but I want the SpecB long gears and it costs so much to put them into an 04-06 6MT that I'm better off just buying a whole new tranny. I want to build a really strong motor so even one with a mild build would just get taken out.

True that... especially in the rust belt... Join the Iowa Subaru club and post up (Facebook group). Someone might have one down here.

Watching Supra speedo videos and seeing them spinning at 150mph just doesn't seem worth it. I want to actually be able to use the power without needing slicks and a prepped track.
So I don't have to worry about you posting up photos of a BRZ with forced air H6 motor? Not that I plan to...anytime soon.

I look forward to what is next. Wish I could have seen the WRX

yea, just let it die. it's out of respect for the owner of the car. pretty rough for all of us to see an iconic car die and unfortunately you are going to get trolls that make up stories and stuff. just let it go.

Part of the reason people don't believe it is because of his past. Crying wolf so many times people stop knowing what to believe

Ben if you want a clean rust free shell you should look here in Tx. Have you checked the TXIC chapter marketplace?

Quoted for truth. You guys at least got to see it and ride in it in Chicago. I'm just happy this build will live on forever on this site. I don't see this thread sinking down on the list for quite some time.

Also pretty damn excited to see what he chooses as a project car, and the ensuing monster build.

That's why I loved this thread so much, ben's unending want of more power in a sleeper package. With the whole Subaru scene starting to be invaded by Honduh dip****s, his build stood out for it's all go, no show attitude. I'm sick of slammed and herrafrush, I want more impreza hood with the power of a ZR1 Midlife Crisis Machine.

and that's fair enough. All i'm saying is that people make mistakes and **** happens. I don't know what happened but i just wanted to see the car and get a bit of back story (more to kinda scare myself into what can happen if i be an idiot in my own car) I'm not saying ben was being stupid when the crash happened, i don't know a single thing about the crash for all i know someone else ran into him, kangaroo jumped out i don't know.. All i know is "The car is gone".

- If it was me i would post pics and tell the story so other could learn, (As you and rsutton did, granted both of you were not at fault) but each to there own.

2 sides to every story, I personally think its better to post and share failings so others can learn from my mistakes. I don't read into trolls, ill read into what ben has to say.

yeah. i understand that some people would want closure, but this is a sensitive matter. yes me and robb both showed what happened to our car, but that is different. its all up to ben to show what he wants to show, and it wasn't his fault at all.

either way, this build thread will serve as an example for many who jump into new WRX's and is a prime example of what you can learn in such a short time. we were ALL newbies coming into the 3g's and look at where all of our cars went and what we all are doing now. the learning curve and people we met is unreal.

Sensitive matter, wasn't his fault... Did his wife total the car or something?

I'm still not buying it anyway. I think Zee Biker's prediction is a good one.

sometimes there are legal reasons you can't post accident pics even if you weren't doing something wrong. There could be a lawsuit...
