A little excited for the embargo to lift so I can hear impressions and get an idea of whether this will be added to my next car list. As a prior Z32 owner I'm hopeful, but the Z33 and especially Z34 both disappointed me in terms of feel. My perception is that this car will be more of a GT car and may be pretty aligned with my interest, but between the prior gens and Nissan's current crop of vehicles I'm also a bit wary. Ultimately, it will probably be my own test drive that makes or breaks the car (as it did with the 370Z).

I don't sense there's overwhelming excitement about this Z. Sure, it's better than the 350/370 but I just don't hear mass excitement in the car community. Most seem to be focused on the GRC, 6 speed Supra and M2C. I could be grossly wrong but I think it will be a fun car that doesn't come close to competing with the Supra / M2C.

I don’t know about that. 45k (PP) for everything it offers, it could be the real deal. We won’t know until tuners get a hold of it and see if they made any motor changes from the Infiniti product(s). If it responds to mods well, it could be a real success. The M2C is cost prohibitive for many. The 6MT Supra will certainly be more expensive than the Z. The GRC will be limited production and it a totally different vehicle.

I think you both interpreted what I said incorrectly. Is there interest? Yes. But from everything I’ve been reading, hearing people talk about, etc, seems like majority are more interested in 6 speed Supra or GRC when looking at buying a new vehicle.

Yeah but that’s the internet talking. You know as well as I do a lot of them are full of it. I’ve said all along about the Z, let’s wait until it hits, gets reviewed, and most important to me, what the tuners say. I know the B58 is very capable, so is the G16. I want to know what the Z motor can do. A friend says not a lot based on folks who bought it via Infiniti but he’s big time biased and the car isn’t even out yet so changes could have been made. I will definitely give the Z a shot based on price and because I have big time hooks up at Nissan so MSRP will not be anything difficult and I could exact trim/color easily. I mean at the price point I’d certainly take it over the Golf R.

I think the Supra 6MT is going to be expensive. But Toyo will get a lot of attention from me if a premium 6MT can be had for 50 or less. I’d definitely at least evaluate it. My deposit is well secure for the GRC and I know I’ll get one. Just not 100% yet until we have pricing details on the Supra, I know what the Z is capable of, nor if I will have to wait until 2024 to get a special edition GRC. The one guy in front of me at a high volume stealer is talking Supra an awful lot now but the way Toyo does their allocations even I get the CE (and I think the chances are real slim for everyone, even those at the very beginnings of list), it might not be in the color I want. I don’t get real stoked until tuners are tearing **** apart, dynoing, doing mods, etc. That’s when I’ll severely narrow **** down. I’m keeping an open mind.

Ya I don't see that at all. All the people I talk to and channels I follow and what not are far more interested in the Z. Especially since it will be like $10k cheaper and an actual Japanese drivetrain/car.

I'm just not feeling the entire front of the Z at all. I saw these posted recently. I think the Supra has way better lines and more character, but I realize I'm biased.

Not a chance you’ll get a 6 speed Supra for $50k or less. Look at what a base 3.0 sells for at MSRP.

Yeah***8230; I'm just not digging the looks of it. I feel like they took a 370z, 300zx, 240z and threw it all together. I could very well be wrong, and I'm fine with that, but I think it's grossly going to underperform the 3.0 Supra and it's saving Grace will be the price point (assuming less than Supra).

my Q60 Red Sport AWD has a curb weight of 4043lbs, and does 0-60 in 4.5sec. they are underrated, and dyno around 375-385hp to the wheels.

the Z at 3400lbs should be pretty quick.

I doubt supply chain issues will be resolved by 2024. Not to mention raging inflation and I doubt those costs are going to back down to previous levels.

I agree with others that believe the manual Supra totally stole the thunder from this car. You have to be a big Nissan fan to choose this over a Supra. The build quality alone will be miles better and the B58 is an all-time great engine.

How it drives is going to be the biggest determining factor for those who aren't die hard Nissan/Z fans. I'd rather have the Supra based on build quality, looks and performance that have already been established. The worst part about the Supra is price. Since the manual is special made for the Supra and only coming with the larger engine, it's not going to be cheap.
