5 months in and the headlights have been holding up well here in Kansas. We've had some very cold days, freezing rain days, snowy days, etc., and no issues. I've yet to install HIDs, but I do have some other projects to do that will necessitate the removal of the bumper. Maybe by spring.

The Want is strong with this one as well, for these sexy lights. And what I'm running into is that the market vending them is a crapshoot. I see that the OP bought from OEMassive on Ebay, someone else bought from OEMassive.com, another from ProTuningLab.com, and I've also found them at CarID:

They ID the maker as Spyder, but somehow SpyderAuto.com doesn't have this exact model for sale. Wut....

I'm frugal, but I don't mind spending a few extra bucks for good customer service in case something goes wrong, like dusty or scratched lenses or shipping damage. So whether it was about headlights or any other parts, does the community have a recommendation for a source? Or are they all an equal gamble?

How did you do the amber reflector delete? I was looking at these online and wanted to do the same. From what I'm reading too, it seems like any retrofit suited for the OEM 2008-2014 WRX/ STI headlights would work for these headlights as well?

These headlights are uber sexy. My stock passenger side headlight has melted somehow and I dont really want to replace the whole headlight so switching to these is definitely the way to go for me. However, I am also unsure of which vendor to get them from. So many places sell them and now there are different variations as well. Some have a tinted sidemarker it seems, while others do not. Its all rather confusing tbh. Also like the post above mine, do any of you know FOR A FACT that the normal 08-14 retrofit/retroquick retrofits will work with these headlights? And also what do you suggest? Iv spent the last month research and the more I research, the more my brain is scrambled. Please dont let this thread die! Cheeeeeers.

Oemassive is down to $275. The question is, do I go with the HID type instead (for STI ONLY) or do I go for the halogen type? Obviously I would need a harness that would make the HID type work with my wrx however, they dont offer that nessecary harness. Does anyone have any idea where to get a compatible harness? Getting the STI version of these C lights would make future light options much, much easier as I woukdnt have to retrofit anything. Just stick in any good compatible HID kit and hit the road.

This should be a pretty simple answer, as it says right on the advert for the housings. If your car came stock with HID then order that housing, if it did not, order the halogen housing.
Could you install the HID one on your car just the same if it came with halogen from the factory? yes. Are you going to have to either do custom wiring or buy an H11 (factory low beam) to whichever size the HID ballast accepts for a power input connection? possibly, simple either way though.
If you are planning on upgrading to HID, then buy that housing knowing you will have to do some extra wiring, it wont be difficult. The advertisements I have seen for these housings seem to all say they don't come with the HID lowbeam kit, so you would have to source that yourself anyways (don't buy ebay or el cheapo amazon please).

So I bought these not to long ago... first things first... these are not DRL! they do not come with a relay to make the c shaped light be the DRL.

ARE NOT H11 but instead are replaced with H7's which is entirely weird why they would change the bulb type from the stock bulb to a lower standard bulb socket? So the nice expensive Diode Dynamic LED bulbs that I have are now useless for these headlights.

Again the C-Shape is NOT a real DRL and does not come with relay's to become a DRL so that's completely false advertisment.

I wanted the blacked out version but they were out of stock so I ordered the Chrome version with the intent to black them out myself. The projector itself is not a chromed smooth finish and instead is a almost sandblasted chrome color?

Both C-Shaped LED lights are dim... as in not that bright at all. The driver side is dimmer than the passenger side, at least on the ones I received are. I'm a bit mad that they are advertising these as DRL but clearly are not DRL and anyone arguing with them about DRL is told to just return them and get a refund.

So i have a 2012 wrx hatch with the sti hid headlights. Im looking to get LEDs bulbs in the current setup i have now or get these c shape LED lights with maintaining the DRL but done want to buy them if i cant do LEDs. Could anyone help me out with this problem?

only the c-shaped light bare is LED. The bulbs they come with are halogen unless you buy the HID version. Unless you want the c-shaped bar, just go with LED bulbs in your current setup. Or buy these and make your own relay to make the c-shape bar be a DRL.

Quite literally what I said lol. Hence why I was asking about a compatible harness to make the HID's work. Anyway, for anyone else planning on buying these, do not buy them. They do not come with the DRl relay to make them work. as just as the guy above me, one side was dimmer than the other. I returned mine for a refund. Im going to stick with the oem housing and try to go with a quad retrofit/halos. its really unfortunate that spyderco is wrongfully advertising.

I believed these headlights are only good if you are planning to just retrofitting better HID or LED projectors and better LED "C" lights in them. Otherwise they are useless. LOL!

I've been looking into doing my headlights and I want to keep MY OEM ones and found these C lights. After massive amount of research, these headlights are best if you plan on gutting them with proper equipment. Buy a set and build them yourself with a proper projector and real LED'S behind the c light. Or check out circuit demon or ghoztlighting on IG.

Have you looked into the spec-D headlights yet? They have a few different options depending on if you want smoked on smoked or clear with smoked or clear with chrome. Just something to look into.... my bad, this was supposed to be in reference to the price being a little much at $420 because the spec-D’s are only $330 and that’s not even on eBay but a parts dealer online like rallysportdirect or carid

I’ve designed and currently have a prototype for a c-light replacement. It uses RGBW led strips that are addressable and an open source MCU so you can program it to do whatever you want. For example, top portion stays white( btw since it’s an RGBW strip it’s Uses actual white leds not red/green/blue together to make white) and the lower blinks amber for turning or literally whatever you want it to do. Working on adapting it to all lights but one thing at a time. Did one set for my 16 wed and I’ve been getting lots of interest so I’m curious...what would you pay for something like this if it were on the market. Gonna be honest the only thing I’d be selling that is my own design is a light diffusing resin c-light with embedded led. If you know how to code in c/arduino you could program your own but I’m thinking a lot with programmed unit and r/l lights. I’ve seen Bluetooth units out there for a pretty penny but you only get one color at a time. Keep in mind this is a prototype and with some good feedback/contribution it will be constantly evolving but I currently think it’s better than anything out right now( I may be a bit biased). So basically given it’s current stage in dev would you be willing to pay for it and if so how much. To anyone else reading this thread, do NOT deal with ProTuning Labs for these headlights or any other product. That is the worst online experience I've ever had with any entity that presumably holds a business license. I'll report back when the dust settles, but suffice to say that they do not deal in quality products, and aggressively try to fool people into being stuck with them.

Hey guys reviving a dead thread, but this is relevant to my current project. I am retrofitting these OEMassive headlights with new projectors, demon eyes, and a RGB LED strip from Circuit Demon for the C-light. I have both demon eyes and both c-lights hooked up to a Moriomoto XBT bluetooth controller, and the question I have is:

What is a good source of switched power in the engine bay? I want to set it up so I can turn them on with the parking light switch on the stalk, so can I just tap into a 12V wire right at the turn signal harness?

If you want them to turn on with the parking light you can safely splice them to the parking light on the headlight. I don't remember if the parking light acts as a turn signal so test the wire before you splice. I would tap it with a solder connection not a t tap or a vampire crimp.

If anyone wanted to run the C Light (even though they are not bright in stock form) you can just tap in to the DRL resistor behind the bumper). The website even says the LED Strip requires additional wiring. Not unheard of in the aftermarket headlight world. Good luck.

Hi I am looking at getting these for my 2010 wrx. I do not have HID's but the do have a kit that looks like it could convert me to them here https://www.protuninglab.com/hid-pro...-lbdrl-bk.html if I go this route can the hid ballast be mounted to the underside of the headlight? Or would I be better off going with this one https://www.protuninglab.com/pro-jh-si08-lbdrl-bk.html My other question is how do the c lights function as far as a daytime runners? Will they come on amber when no other lights are on when you start up the car and are driving? Also in the second product link it says additional wiring is required for the led strip to function. Been trying to make a decision on new headlights for awhile now, any help or input would be appreciated.

I wish if I could use these assemblies with my 2011 STI stock HIDs?
