Yes. That's what I'm running in my WRX. I like it. I haven't had any issues. Also got the rear view camera as well. Pretty sure it's the same as the A119 that everyone else is running (or at least very close).

Looks like a rebranded version of the A118C.

I just bought an Spy Tec A119S DashCam and will post some videos once I install it. It's supposed to have better night recording quality than the A119. We'll see.

I'm going to replace my current dash cam coming up in the next few months some time. It works pretty OK, but the video quality isn't GREAT (you'd have to get lucky to catch a license plate in the event of say a hit and run), and it has issues with random errors and freezing up that make it unusable randomly. And with my bad luck, I just know that even with a 1% downtime... that would be the time someone would hit me.

I really don't want to spend more than $100, and I'd prefer something with a battery or that comes with a hard wire kit so I can run it in parking mode for people who would back into me and drive off.

Any suggestions?

I got mine on Amazon about a month ago. Works great, picture is good. Night video isn't the best, but it is decent enough for me. My only complaint is a quirk it has with timing of the ignition. I hardwired mine in to the internal fuse box with a kit, so it only runs on the key (no parking mode). If I time the transition from ON to START just right, the camera doesn't want to turn on unless I unplug and plug it back in. Hasn't done it recently but it happens.

I'm satisfied with my first dash cam.

Thanks. I was thinking of upgrading from the A118C to the A119. I wonder if it uses the same connections, and I can just take out the 118 and put in the 119.

*disclaimer - I did not read through all 11 pages so if the answer was within my apologies.

Can you run a rear cam and a backup cam off of the same camera? Any insight in doing this would be great if you have seen or have done it! I am upgrading to a Car Play unit which you can leave the rear cam up even while cruising. The idea that I could record or an automatic G force recording would be nice.

Thanks

Can someone point me to information where I can tap into an ignition live wire for a rear facing camera? 2017 WRX. Thanks.

Check your fuse box for a fuse with 12v with ingnition on and 0v when off.

http://www.autozone.com/electrical-a...-tap/32416_0_0

Make sure it is for the mini fuse.

Guess I should have been more explicit. I don't want to run a wire from the fuse box all the way back to the rear deck. Rather, I want to locate a wire near the interior rear brake light to use. Was hopeful someone knew which wire to use and where it's located.

Can anyone point me in the direction toward the latest and greatest daytime (with emphasis on glare) and nighttime resolution, as well as great parking mode functions? Also a great, wide angle would be great, along with an easily hidden design.

My car got scratched today and that is all the motivation I need to purchase one.

I have this dash cam as well. For $100, I'm satisfied with it. I've had it for about 2 years now and it still works great. Day time quality is great, but I agree, night time quality is lacking. Their customer service is good. I emailed them about an issue I thought I had with the camera (long story short, it was the USB cable) and they sent me a new dash cam within days. I was thinking about hardwiring my dash cam, but decided to just buy an external USB power bank so I can plug it in whenever I park and it'll be recording everything.

Filmed an installation guide on the Blackvue DR750S-2CH (front & rear) with the Power Magic Pro (parking mode 24/7).

I bought another 12v socket and just scotch locked it to the wires behind the cigarette lighter then just plugged the 12v plug into that, not the best way to do it I'm sure but works

I have a G1W-S, and just like the G1W-C, it uses a capacitor rather than a battery. I very much like the image quality of the recorded video, but this dash cam seems incapable of storing the date... which is probably due to it being capacitor powered. The capacitor is supposed to be able to retain and supply enough power to keep the date in memory while the car's parked, but it doesn't. I may have to rewire the camera so that the car battery is continuously supplying juice, whether or not the car (and dash cam) are running.

But like I said, the video quality is fine...

Pretty awesome write up. How does it perform with the tint on the rear? I'm also tinted, but quite dark so I'm mostly curious how it looks at night with the tint. How does it handle glares? Any app issues?

$275. So far this is cheapest I have seen for 2ch 750S. 137 people already bought it.

You should check your not using an accessory wire (powered with the first point when turning or pressing your key) and make sure you connect to an ignition source (after accessory position before crank). Ignition will maintain power output during crank unlike accessory which will drop during the crank.

So I will admit that I did not read all 11 pages of this... does anyone seem to have a blocked view out of the rear window with the addition of a rear facing camera?

Dash cams have been such a crapshoot for me. There are a million different brands, half of them are the same cheaply made junk just rebranded by a different relatively unknown company. I've owned three so far and none of them have been great... the two I use in my vehicles now record decent quality video but both will shut down randomly or sometimes not start up when the car comes on. One is a Rexing and the other is a black box G1W-C

I'm ready to try a new one and I'm torn between buying a Blackvue or a Garmin. The blackvue cameras seem really highly reviewed...but they're expensive and from another company that doesn't seem to have much of a US history. I'm considering a Garmin just because they're a reputable brand with proven experience in the camera industry.

Here is video from my Spytech 118c. The deer thanks Subaru for its automatic emergency braking:

The deer runs out at the beginning, 3 seconds into the video.

Why is there a full three minute video posted for an event that occurs within the first five seconds?
