Default Help! Low Dyno #'s! E85 18g EJ205 252 on dynojet?!

Rebuilt ej205 approx 7k miles
E85
FP Td05 18g 7cm
Perrin turbo inlet
Perrin intake
Fully catless 3" to Spt catback
Cobb EBCS
Big TMIC
DW 1000C5lC
Walbro 25ph
Ngk 1 step colder

Tuned on Cobb and Speed Density.

Well....after months of fustration, a bad knock sensor, new radiator, etc. Etc.

I had my car tuned by a shop in Madison, WI after some remote tuning on another shops dyno fell through. The first time they told me it made 230whp! Even on a mustang dyno that is low. So they went back to it, final numbers were 258whp. Low but...on a dynojet 290whp +/- right?

Well yesterday I took it took a different shop closer to home to get pulls on a dynojet...252 whp and my AFR's are riiiich. Wtf???????

My intake temps while driving normal 25-70mph range from figure...88-94 on my accessport with 77 degree air temp. Top mount intercooler is completely heat taped, downpipe wrapped, blanket over the turbo. Intercooler was warm, but could still place my hand on it.

Sparkplugs were new before dyno, shop gapped them at .28

Mods:

They claim they tried adding more fuel and more timing but it wouldnt make power.

I am swapping out the perrin turbo inlet for a different piece as we are wonderiny if it is collapsing. As well as swapping out the sti splitter for a grimmspeed one.

Any ideas, I'm sure I missed things. Don't flame me. I talked to many people and they agree I am not asking for much wanting to see 300whp on a dynojet!

Drivability of the car after tune is OK.

I feel it may be my tune, but I'm not one to point fingers and blame but....any other ideas. I have both dyno sheets but it says i dont have permission to add attachments.

Thats barely an improvement over stock, i made 250whp on pump with a TD04. Sounds like that shop cant tune, you should be in the 350whp range, and i would recommend against the colder plugs on E85, not needed and its easier to foul them up. Id get ahold of the last tuner and see what was up, but ive played with cars with mechanical problems that made more than that, even on mustangs.

Yeah thats my thought as well. I'm hoping it's that at this point, so at least I'm not taking stabs in the dark. I would be thrilled with 315-320!!!

They simply told me that was the top end of the tune. They got me with a pretty big bill so I paid it and got my car out of there and going elsewhere.

I would say make the drive to Minneapolis or Chicago and go to nf performance or p & l motorsports. Both of those shops know what they are doing.

How do your logs look in Virtual Dyno?

I doubt your intake is collapsing and a splitter isn't going to net you any major gains.

Not sure where you are exactly, but try to get a hold of Brad Bahr through Facebook. He's in Neenah, and is highly recommended by the local Subaru community (including myself). Moreso that Beyond Redline anyway, I've heard mixed reports about them. Brad would do a road tune, so you wouldn't have actual dyno numbers, but he does good work.

I know the splitter wont really do much but it won't hurt.

I've never used virtual dyno, I will look into it.

Your # sounds about right because on my old setup ej205 with a td05 20g at 20 psi I made 255whp on airboy dyno. If you want high hp number do a hybrid build

Looks like after 6k something is happening, either timing pull or the plug is starting to foul?
The torque is there, any other mods not mentioned? 11.0 is good, but you could go a tad leaner if you had an EGT guage or logger to fine tune up top.
Getting knock about 6200 and it's pulling timing for the rest of the run maybe?

Update on this. Was a horrid tune lots of detonation, did cylinder leakdown and....long story short i now am building a hybrid and have a 71HTA hanging out waiting...sucks but expensive lesson learned...Brad Bahr is tuning my build this time.
