PM for interest - I'm not checking that email very often. I love this car and hate to let it go; but I just bought a 1JZ swapped '93 RX7 !!!

PICS: an azz-load of them!!

1988 Toyota Supra swapped to JDM 2JZ-GTE with SP6176s single turbo and all supporting mods.

Bought car three yrs ago in S. Carolina for $8600. It had the 2JZ swap and single turbo done, and running pretty reliably. I drove it home no issues to Ohio from S.Carolina. Former owner had it re-painted but I would say it was not a high quality job. That said, it still looks pretty decent/shiny out and about with a wash / wax. Just that its no $5k paint job is all. Car has been stored winters and rain in insulated garage since coming to Ohio with me.

Since then I've spent over $10,000 on parts and labor for the car. Making it 100% reliable and bad-to-the-bone lookin' stock body 1988 MKIII.

Today if you take this car out, people are pointing all over the place, waving me over on the road to talk about the car, and the standard lurkers of course while its parked public places. When I pop the hood people pretty much go "HOLY ****!!!".

I have receipts for over $6200 in latest work done very recently 4/2010 by Russ at Accelerated Performance in Toledo, OH (he worked on car over the winter, i picked up in April 2010). Another $4k was spent on parts 2.75yrs ago, shortly after i bought car.

In my three yrs of ownership, I drove the car less than 4000miles. One summer I did not drive but 100miles. I baby this car ALWAYS and EXCESSIVELY!!!

MODIFICATIONS:
SP6176 single Turbo, Tial wastegate, plumbed to exhaust.

Denso Irridium spark plugs
Chrome radiator shroud
Chrome battery cover

Silver colored Dash trim kit - Very solid quality and looks oem!
Stainless dash gauge cluster bezel

Dawes Devices Manual Boost controller

New Water pump and starter rebuild (less than 500 miles)
White dash gauge cluster & backlight
Tokico Blue struts
H&R lowering springs

Car pulls hard, stock JDM ECU is only thing really holding it back right now.

Accelerated Performance road tuned with the APEXI Neo and AEM wideband to 15 PSI -- not dyno'd. I would guestimate a minimum of 400+ to the wheels and Russ thought the same if not more. Butt dyno says she HAULS A$$. I have run next to a mid 90's 600cc Crotch-rocket and we were neck-n-neck 70-140. He was SHOCKED to say the least; so was I !!

The engine bay is painted with flat black high-temp ceramic paint. But i did the job with the engine in, so masked everything and got every bit i could.. its not perfect, but it looks pretty decent overall. Really all the polished stuff steals the show for onlookers.

Tons of CUSTOM stuff on this car. When i bought it 3yrs ago it was MESSY and dirty and in need of loving care. I gave it that care it needed.

Today its 100% reliable will start up every time and just drive FAST. She's a highway killer.

The honest to goodness BAD -- (all of it, unlike some others who make for sale posts packed with surprises)
-164k miles on chassis.
-80k miles on engine
-Hatch area is not cleaned up at all. See the youtube vid for detailed footage of hatch
-Minor scratches/scuffs paint imperfections - See the youtube vid for detailed footage
-Smokes on cold startup - this is very typical in the 2JZ engine from dried valve seals, no biggie and only smokes for 30 seconds or less.
-Door locks are fussy - but manual key-turn does still work with a little finness (power door lock does not work)
-Cracks in dash - again typical for this car, but covered with Custom carpet cover
-Power Steering fully installed - but pump died other day (2 weeks ago literally)
-No A/C
-Window buttons work but sometimes have to press a couple times.
-No head unit/stereo
-3 gauges on top of dash go into reset-mode when you pull the E-brake on. Basically you get no Boost, EGT, Oil Temp readings if E-brake is on. They work fine when its off while you're driving, etc.
-I find the EGT to be pretty inaccurate - should be no worries - you have AEM Wideband
-Battery goes dead after sitting for a good while - about a week, so disconnect if she's sitting
-dirty rear seat cushion, faint dirty hand-print on rear seat back
-slight paint chipping on front fender as it rolls under near tire - very small area - see in pics
-driver side '88 spec sideview mirror, while passenger side is '89 spec. - not terribly noticeable - but there is a clear difference.
Speedo is inaccurate - it reads ~5mph fast

The price takes into account ALL the good & bad about this car. I think its the BEST price you will find on a nice and cleanly modded 2JZ MKIII Supra ANYWHERE in the world, thus its firm. I'm open to offers, the worst I can do is say no, but don't be rediculous people. SERIOUS bidders ONLY!!

On to the pics and Video... I'm trying to be VERY honest in this thread, in an effort to show you all there is, so you can not be knocking at my doorstep to see the car and then find out something dissapointing or that you weren't expecting. That said please don't come to my home and kick my tires around if you are not a SERIOUS and ready/willing buyer. I'm not looking to haggle/hassle over this. Would prefer to sell car before snow flies in the East, so thus a VERY VERY FAIR asking price.

PRICE DROP $7,050

Youtube BEST VID walkaround - engine bay - quick/brief rev up

Youtube walkaround - focus on body/paint imperfections, interior, engine bay, etc --

Youtube video - Focus on dirty, messy hatch area

Youtube video - Hard acceleration focus on speedo/tach

I'm sorry I don't have them hosted elsewhere. I can email to you tonight if you're interested.

Or i will definitely try to get them hosted at an image-shack type website this weekend.

I forgot nobody would be able to see those pics if they aren't a Supramania member....

The absurdly cheap price won't be the same come next spring.... It would just be nice to free the garage space for this winter -- so I'm agressive with price right now.

I remember when the last owner had this up for sale. I liked it but it had all those little issues that would get annoying. Too bad they aren't fixed. I would prob buy it since your close by. Should sell quick I would think! Goodluck

Not sure what you're talking about. I've owned it for 3yrs and fixed a TON of stuff that was wrong with this car. TON of stuff. For this price, PERFECT is simple NOT an OPTION. Anyone who expects it to be that way, hasn't been on planet earth very long.

A car ~2yrs from HISTORICAL vehicle status is bound to have the minor stuff. You simply can't own one of the greatest vehicle ever made (not my quote, but I stand by and 2nd the comment for sure) w/out having the standard hickups of any 23yr old car.

Let me say something here peops -- this car is WELL SORTED and drives like a GEM. Take this car on LONG highway jaunts with no worries, no issue, and IN COMFORT.

The seats are comfortable, the ride is SMOOTH as pie, not harsh, no harsh suspension interaction. However when you get on it and get into 'er, she WILL handle the road more amazingly than ANY of you solely subie owners would expect. (i've owned the badazz WRX coilovered, etc) -- its just not at all the same... This a GT car, touring car.

This car will WIPE most of your arses on the highway top end. She HAULS, period.

For the price, NOBODY on line is even REMOTELY close. If they are, please SHOW me a link.

Here's the link to the pics of the car FORMER owner 3yrs prior. it looked like a HOLE then, and I paid $8600 for it. Spent over $10k on it since, and am asking even LESS than i paid. I've done alot to make this car GREAT.

I would NOT sell this car at all if it weren't for my wife and her griping about garage space.

If the Supra does not sell, I have no worries holding it and the price simply won't be the same come next spring.

Peace!!!

3yr old FORMER owner photos - BEFORE i made her look good and drive right.

Default wideband vid..

Sorry folks, no room on the roads around here for 5gear WOT if you catch my drift.

But you can see She runs smooth for sure thru 4th, 5th is more of the same.. a joy to drive, i will hate to let 'er go. I'll consider myself lucky if no one wants anything to do with her. Despite my arse in a wife-sling.

sounds like those gauges were wired up to the wrong 12v... that's an easy fix.

this car is awesome, just bite the bullet and fix the short/bad ground/whatever it is that's causing electrical issues, and it'll sell in a second

yeah you are likely right, they are 12v'd into the e-brake light wire. Whenever the e-brake light comes on/off -- the gauges get reset.

It honestly doesn't bother me any -- they still work/read appropriately when and where you want them to --- while driving.

The price accts for all the BAD. No buyers, no skin off my back. (just don't tell my wife please)

Surprised you're considering selling it, but I'm sure the rx-7 is nice and has the big weight advantage. That would be funny if it comes back to SC and I see it driving around. Good luck with it,

I'm lookin to get this as a car that i can use for 85% of the time as a drag race car here at a local 1/8th mile and take to the 1/4 mile sometimes. I have a second car so i just wanna fool around with this one. You guys think this will be good for that??

I am the previous owner and I had the car swapped, etc. The tranny is the R154 5spd that came in the turbo MKIII supras, and will hold up to 700rwhp. For an all out drag car you also have the option of putting a TH350 or similar in the car.

The engine is obviously the same that came in the MKIV supras, so anything that can be accomplished with those can be done with this car. Because this is the version of the 2JZ that came in the JDM Aristo, it does have slightly smaller cams, Ron has already put the USDM spec 550cc injectors in. It is also MAP controlled, it has no MAF. A stand alone like an AEM or Power FC would allow you to fully tune the car and get everything out of it.

If you're going for just a drag car you could upgrade the turbo to something newer and more in the GT40, GT42 size range. I'm sure one of those new billet Precision turbos would do nicely. It's currently setup for T4 inlet, 3" V-band outlet.

Like most supras, this is a top-end car. It's heavy, but once you're going it will pull like crazy, way different to our EJ's.

If you get it, you'll be surprised how much you end up driving it. Especially in the fall and spring with the targa top out. It's a great car for cruising up in the mountains, the interior is pretty comfy and luxurious for a Japanese sports car.

morning bump -- and THANK YOU (early bird) Drew!!

All accounts by Drew are spot-on.

I do love the TOP END on this car! I will really miss it.

For a few minutes I tried to talk the old lady into allowing a swap of the 2J into the RX7, and then part the Supra shell and the 1JZ out. The mounts in the RX7 are same for 1J and 2J. Just wasn't havin' any of it. What a waste I'm now thinking to have to sell this Supra.

Really when you compare the specificied Gross vehicle weights from manufacturer --- MKIII car is not heavier than the MKIV Supra by much, maybe 100lbs at most.

While as an import they are on the heavy side -- they are nothing compared to a HEMI or Mustang, etc etc.

The reason i looked for this car was Top End. The reason i ended up buying it was the ride from Drew (who drives on the road like his second calling was AutoX). I was amazed how well the car did handle curves at speed.

The Top End was just icing on the cake.
