Wonder if it has a CEL w/no cats in the exhaust? For that matter, I wonder if an OBD2 scanner can even communicate w/it still, depending on how the swap was done. If no communication is possible, this car could be impossible to get through inspection in NY/NJ. This car could be a steal, or it could become your worst nightmare Looks like the only engine management is SAFC, which makes me wonder how well it runs. I'm wary of a jdm swap in an OBD2 car, although my fears could easily be unwarrented. More info on the car would be great!

Definitely a sweet sleeper. I hope the first thing the winning bidder does is buy some springs or coilovers.

That's the correct belief. If one person spends so much time and money on this project, why sell it so cheap? Unless it was too much trouble to keep which I suspect.

Notice the pics had no reg or inspection stickers.

Since this thread still lives, I spoke with the owner two days ago, and it has a '99 jdm WRX engine that runs on the original Outback ecu, with fuel adjustments made via SAFC to facilitate the WRX engine. It has no CEL or any other dash lights on, so its probably a good buy for someone in a state that does not require OBD hook up at inspection. If I lived closer, I'd drive over and plug in my OBD2 scanner to verify that it can read all the sensors, etc.

I thought the owner was a dealer. He also has two other cars for sale with no plates.

I noticed that the wiring harness wasn't spliced... I doubt it runs well though off that NA ECU.

Not worth doing a swap if you're not going to swap the ECU, IMO.

My deceased white OB was much better than this one!

remember guys.

never take on someone else's headache.

usually when things are done correctly they sell for a deserved price. this outback is probably another nightmare awaiting the new owner.
