Question just wondering about cabin air filters (04 sti)

Hey all,

Looking to replace my cabin air filter now....never got around to changing it.

So i was wondering - OEM vs something off of amazon/napa/oriely/rock auto/etc etc

OEM is $39.99. Everywhere else i look ranges from $7-$30

Is there a cabin air filter brand that is preferable to other brands??

Regards,

kamal

I'm wondering if the Uncle maybe has a side business selling subaru cabin filters!

Of course, if you are REALLY cheap, buy yourself whatever furnace filter is on sale, and cut to fit.

im not smart enough to do any of that........

and if you dont get it just right on the size....sometimes those 'cut furnace' filters get distorted in use and dont end up filtering well

some of the 'high dollar' filters(I think one that is available from subaru, I think) have an activated charcoal layer that is supposed to help eliminate odors.....they are usually $30+ and filter better but dont last as long

I use he blue fibreglass furnace filters. They are stiff and you get about 12 cabin filters out of a $4 furnace filter

Only problem with those is that they barely filter anything... Those come in at MERV 1 to 4, so less than 20% of dust is caught by them.

Just this week I bought one of those Ebay $7 filters from some guy who is all over Ebay. Came in 2 days and fit right in. Can't go wrong.
