Still need to get a plug for that extra crankcase vent- hence the oil on the top of the block. And I ordered a polished pipe for the intake to replace that dryer hose.

That's where all that oil came from in the engine code picture. I hadn't gotten to the auto parts store to buy all the plumbing for the catch can. I went and picked that up just now though, I stuck a different piece on just to drive it around today. I put about 50 miles on it shifting at 3000-3500 and it seems to run really smoothly. It was blowing some smoke for the first 20 miles or so. Once the rings seated it quit smoking. I'll be putting another 100 miles or so on it tonight I bet. Too bad gas is soo expensive right now. I still need to clean up the interior and get my wiring nightmare for the link all wrapped up and under the carpet. I am happy with the way it turned out though. So far so good.

Yep! I had the same issues. First 1000 miles, my catchcan caught tons of oil. 1/4 of a quart actually. Now its catching very little. Just keep an eye on your oil every morning.
(I'm running 20w50 now) Good job! |

Drove it about 200 miles yesterday. Seems to be running really well. I have a coolant leak that I need to fix- new hose clamps. The link is being kind of weird so that is pissing me off a bit. It "hunts" for idle all the way up to 3500 rpm. It ususally does this for about 5 minutes then goes back to normal on its own. Any ideas why it would do this?

Does it hunt for idle just on starts? or every few minutes? |

My turbo is oil cooled only. No water lines. Most people tap off the heater lines though. I sometimes will hunt on startup but now usually. It usually happens just randomly after I have been driving for 30 minutes or more. Just revs up and down. It's really annoying though and a little bit dangerous when it's doing it while you are trying to downsift to make a turn, etc. I haven't driven it since sunday evening so I haven't run the catchcan still, but i got all the parts. I stuck a piece of hose on that vent and pointed it up. Seemed to do the trick for the moment. I'll fix it later this week.
