Here's pump gas compared against another built motor that was recently on our dyno:

Retarded monkey says power is kinda low for that much of a built engine.

That's the Moroso oil pickup.

Obviously I don't want to get into a dyno debate, and we will be taking this car to at least one of the local Dynojets as well as the strip, but by our best calculations (taken from other STi's that have dynoed at multiple places) our Dyno Dynamics 409whp is Dynojet 471whp on 93 with just 20.4 psi peak and 19.4 psi at peak whp. This is exactly what a build of this level SHOULD make. With the heads, cams, intake, header etc, 470whp is exactly right.

We had 2 Walboros in series and on E85 the fuel pressure is dropping at 25.0 psi peak, 22.4 psi at peak whp and what calculates to 530 wft-lbs and 530 whp (Dynojet). We thought the Walboros in series would be enough, but the Bosch engineer believes that using the stock hardline from in-tank to in-line Walboro is our major restriction. He thinks that at full bore, the pressure from in-tank to in-line could be dropping to near 0, so it acts more like a single Walboro. Again, it's not surprising to max a Walboro (or even a "Walboro and a half") at 530-550whp on E85... (It was 461/461 on our Dyno Dynamics).

Cliff notes: (best calculation to Dynojet whp)
93 octane 20.4 psi peak, 19.4 psi at peak whp 471whp
E85 maxed the pumps (losing 20psi of fuel pressure) at 530whp

Car will be tested on a Dynojet and at the strip once it's full complete.

There is quite a difference in 409.3whp and 471whp...

I guess we will just have to wait to see what it does on a different dyno or on the strip... until then, 409.3whp seems quite depressing for the amount of work done...

The dyno is just a tool ... The track would be the correct proving ground.

Interested to see if it runs with similarly dyno'd 400hp cars... or closer to 500hp cars...

Stock STi's generally make 200-210whp on this dyno and 24-250whp on most Dynojets. We've done 5 Stage2 STi's here in the last few weeks and they all made about 260whp here and 300whp on Dynojets.

It's really not hard... Different dynos read differently. If you search other kinds of cars you'll find that most people consider Dyno Dynamics to be 13-20% lower than Dynojets.

The owner of the car had the 35R on his stock block that made 380whp on 93 and 450whp on 110. He says that the car feels MUCH faster on the current 93 map (estimated 470 DJ whp) than it did on the old 110 map...

So while you might be disappointed at the number, the owner of the car is thrilled with the performance

I could walk back out the dyno, turn off the weather station, change the correction and make a plot that shows 470. Would that relieve your disappointment?

I could do that for you. You know, like a Christmas present

Sorry. I kept posting, and then reading it and thinking of something else. It's always a hard call as to risk a ninja edit or just add another post...

And I'm in a good mood getting ready to take 5 days off

LOLOL! Just for grins I Googled "dyno dynamics dynojet" and one of the first posts was from HERE:

You're not paying any attention to the 20 psi.....

If my car made 400whp at 20psi on pump gas i'd be all

it takes me 26psi and methanol just to get to 375 whp.

I think what he was getting at is it doesn't look that much stronger than a typical 35r car with cams. its good power but its nothing crazy consider what all is done.

I agree with AVCSKIDD a typical 35R with built heads should make that kind of power at 20-21 psi on 93oct.

Look at this thread http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...light=topspeed

What is the AR on the turbo? spool seems slow to me
400-410whp on a low reading dyno is a 11.4-11.7 car if is full weight

Typical 35r setups make 410-420 whp on a dynojet. They usually make about 360 on our dd. This made 410 on ours which is about 470 on a dynojet. 470 on 93 is STRONG.
