Default Subaru VIZIV Tourer Concept

--------------

Hello,

In Geneva Subaru will show its new Levorg (or Exiga (or Forester (?))) Concept car:

Quote:
Subaru Corporation today announced that “SUBARU VIZIV TOURER CONCEPT” will make its world debut at the 88th Geneva International Motor Show to be held in Switzerland (Press day: March 6 – 7 / Open to the public: March 8 – 18, 2018).

The SUBARU VIZIV TOURER CONCEPT will be unveiled at the press briefing scheduled for 11:15 AM (Central European Time) on March 6 at Subaru booth.
Here is the first picture (original):

And brighten up:

Maybe it is the new Exiga or Levorg? But the Exiga would not be presented in Europe, because it was not sold here. And the new Forester is already quiet existing...

Frank

Subaru Viziv Tourer concept to preview future WRX estate
Big-boot version of Viziv concept will be revealed at the Geneva motor show

Subaru has released an image of a new concept called the Viziv Tourer that will be revealed at next month’s Geneva motor show.

The model offers direct insight into the look of a future WRX estate, which is due to be launched alongside a WRX saloon – the latter of which was first previewed in concept form in autumn last year (and is pictured below).

Only the Viziv Tourer’s tail-lights and bootlid are visible in the picture, but they show that the car will have similar design details to the saloon. This suggests the front end will be near-identical and sport the same slim light design as the regular Viziv concept.

The Viziv Tourer is also likely to have a similar footprint to its saloon sibling, which measured 4630mm long and 1950mm wide, with a 2730mm wheelbase – all increases on the current WRX.

The production WRX models that follow these Viziv concepts will be built on Subaru’s latest Global Platform, which was first introduced on the current Impreza and brings vast improvements in structural rigidity and refinement.

The platform also enables the fitment of Subaru’s EyeSight technology, its suite of driver assist systems that enable functions such as autonomous emergency braking, an advanced form of side impact alert and driver fatigue detection.

The systems were recently rolled out on the latest XV, which Autocar drove earlier this year, but will appear in even more active forms when the next WRX models make production in 2020.

Expect the hardware to lend itself to more advanced semi-autonomous functions, although Subaru’s intention to make WRX driver-centric will negate the fitment of fully autonomous functions in this model’s line-up.

Power for top-end variants of the WRX, previewed by the recent Viziv Performance STI concept, will likely come from turbocharged boxer engines, used for their lower centre of gravity and the benefits that brings to handling. This also draws obvious links to Subaru’s iconic models from yesteryear.

However, other versions of the WRX family could use more conventional in-line four-cylinder engines, as hinted by company design chief Mamoru Ishii to Autocar late last year. He suggested boxer engines were not essential ingredients for many Subaru customers, while also hinting that electrification could play a part in hybrid variants.

Oh, so is this finally some kind of hint at a hatch/wagon?

i guess we will see, if we see a wrx hatchback in camouflague being tested on american roads, there will be no more doubt. But from what the article is saying, it is not the levorg, it is the estate or hatch version of the wrx saloon already shown in los angeles.

I'm hoping it's more of a hatchback. As much as I love wagons, they don't scream fast and agile. Well, at least not agile.

Give us a reincarnation of the exaggerated flared body of the GR hatch.

I don’t need my vehicle to “scream” anything. I do need it to be as functional as possible. Bring on the STI wagon!

Kind of contradictory, don't you think?

WRX and STi are for performance. I want it to look the part, and not look like a bloated family hauler with red pinstripes.

No contradiction at all my man, it's very possible to be functional, fast and tasteful. See Audi S3 and VW Golf R for details.

Yes but they're not big wagons.

I really hope SOA doesn't leave us out again I wouldn't be surprised, but fingers crossed regardless.

Didn't realize we'd confirmed this was a large wagon. If it is though, see Audi Allroad for details.

That window behind c pillar sure looks small for a wagon. This “tourer” looks more like a hatch to me. Still could be Subaru’s Levorg replacement though; otherwise it’d have essentially 3 WRX body styles in the lineup.

You keep revisiting a camouflaged car. I can easily see them only visibly testing a sedan. Just to keep the "big" news of a hatch return a secret as long as possible.

I'd prefer a wagon over a hatch, but will take a hatch over a sedan.

I'd throw roof racks and a tow bar on it.

The Subaru Advanced Tourer concept was a concept that ultimately led to the development of the Levorg. Given the same terminology here, I'd anticipate that this is the next generation Levorg.

HOWEVER, the rear window looks significantly smaller than the advanced tourer concept, suggesting that perhaps this will ALSO be a WRX hatchback/wagon that might make it to the US. Purely speculation, but I'm guessing that Subaru might have split the difference between the Levorg and hatch, so that SOA might bite.

Golf R becoming my next car just became a lot less likely. I'll have to keep my wrx around long enough to see if this thing becomes a reality on US streets in wrx/sti form (preferably sti).

We obviously didn't confirm a thing.

My statements are regarding the Levorg replacement rumors.

Also, I don't see an Allroad cornering like a 15+ WRX any time soon.

At this point it may be time for tiki torches and picket signs at their new HQ to get this done.

You'd need more than tiki torches and picket signs to catch anyone's attention in Camden... 4 wheeler gangs and semi-automatic rifles are regular sights around there...

Nah, we just need golden retrievers to show them sport tourer > sport sedan. They really, really understand golden retrievers.

Then why bring up large wagons? Unless you mean to tell me you consider the Levorg to be a large wagon? Looking at the specs the Levorg is only 3.7" longer than the current STI, and 1.8" longer than BMW 3 Series Sport Wagon.

Which to the original point we were discussing, the Sport Wagon is functional, fast, and not over styled. There is no reason that something has to be styled like a Transformer to meet the criteria listed, nor does being functional preclude performance orientation. Again, no contradiction my man.

You mean to tell me you can't see an Allroad under steering? I certainly can, I can assure you it will plow like a WRX, perhaps less depending on which options you select.

Wonderful. I'm looking forward to another long, drawn-out period of hope and suspense followed by agonizing heartbreak and disappointment.

If we do get a Levorg/WRX wagon successor I'm sure it'll be CVT only and priced into the grave like most other promising "sporty" wagons. If the only people that will buy it are a handful of weird enthusiasts, just give it what they want it to have.

Come on man. I said I don't want overstyling. But I don't want it understyled either.

I don't want it to be a wagon, that's my main point. My personal opinion.

The Levorg was a replacement for the Legacy wagon in its markets. It looks big. I like my cars athletic and agile. Maybe that's a little hypocritical because I don't think my own 2016 meets that image. And no, my car doesn't plow. At least not anymore. A simple alignment and control arms fixed that for me. But I don't track it either.

I just want whatever this is to be the next WRX hatch. Something more slick than the Levorg.
