Default Upgrading brakes on 2009 WRX

Hey all, haven't posted in awhile, but I am at the point in my car's life where my brakes need some love. Looking to get the brake fluid flushed, and I figured, why not do a little upgrading while I'm at it.

I don't wanna spend the dough to get a full brake kit (calipers, rotors, pads, etc), but I figured some upgraded pads and rotors would be good instead of going with OEM again.

I have a 2009 WRX sedan that I daily drive. Nothing crazy, just spirited driving. Brakes are currently stock. I'm looking for something that is appropriate for my driving style. Cost isn't really an issue, but I would prefer something affordable. Any suggestions on which pads and rotors to go with?

I would stick with blank rotors unless you want a flashier look. Just remember cheap drilled rotors have been known to crack and for your driving drilled/slotted, or drilled and slotted will offer no noticeable improvement.

You can go with a more aggressive pad just remember you'll likely experience increased noise and rotor wear. A more aggressive street pad will definitely offer a noticeable improvement, but don't go overboard and get a full track pad. Hawk, carbotech , stop tech and others make an aggressive street pad

I would go with these.
Carbotech***8482; 1521***8482;

The Carbotech***8482; 1521***8482; is our high performance street compound. The 1521***8482; compound is known for its release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. 1521***8482; is also a very low dusting and low noise compound with an excellent initial bite. This compound's excellent linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Carbotech***8482; 1521***8482; operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 800°F (426°C+). 1521***8482; is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle or fleet vehicle. Carbotech***8482; 1521***8482;
Give us a call we can help you out.

call knsbrakes.com

i talked with them on a telephone device and ended up going with Centric Premium blanks and Centric Posi-Quiet pads for my '08. not a super aggressive street pad, but low noise and low dust and more bite than stock, which works great for me.

^^^^ I'll second this.

KNS will sell you what you need, or what you want, but they leave it up to you to decide.

Just tell them what you are looking for and they will help you out

Did you know....Posi-Quiet brake pads are now reboxed/branded and sold as Stoptech Street Touring pads?

It's good to know.

Good to know, thanks for the info. I had been looking at Stop Tech because of their pricing. Just wasn't sure how reputable the brand was.

i did not like stop tech pads. they came apart and dusted like crazy. go with kns brakes. i swapped to hawk hps 5.0 pads and centric premium rotors. im very happy with the stopping force and dust with this setup. kns are great and have fast shipping!

KNS 4k rotors, hawk 5.0, kns's rear brake caliper bracket for brembo goldies, brembo Goldie's front, ATE fluid.

Telephone device was very effective.

(NOTE-If you have the hawk 5.0 & 4k rotors & wash your wheels/brakes, immediately ride brakes for a few seconds upon driving....first time was terrifying)
