Default Coilovers for a softer ride

Hey everyone, I got my dad a 2018 WRX which he absolutely loves, however he doesnt like the rough ride. Is there a coilover that will soften the dampening and also rise the ride height about 1-2 inches?

Thanks

What a good kid!

Tell him to cowboy up just like he told you when you was a kid.

Riding softer? Yeah, 100% doable with a lot of mid/high cost coilovers. I really like the RCE SS-1's on my BRZ. The valving soaks up the bumps much better than the stock suspension did. They overall ride better than stock.

The problem you're going to have is raising the car 1-2 inches. Even looking at 1" high than stock, most coilovers are "lowering" coilovers and they achieve that through the overall shock body, lowering camber plates, etc. The whole system is designed to ride lower, so you can't really run them at stock height even.

With that said, there are certainly coilovers designed to be higher than stock. Rally style coilovers come to mind. Try checking out KSport Gravel Rally coilovers... looks like they're bout $1900 + tax and that's about what you're going to spend on the RCE's or something similar to get the valving you need for a more compliant ride.

Sidenote: On the rear of most WRXs, including the 2018, you're limited in raising the car by other various suspension components. Gravel coilovers will go high, but the rest of the suspension will bind up and stop. You'll need some spacers and inserts for the subframe to achieve even a 1" lift I think. Definitely for 2".
