Default 0-60 in 5 seconds, Confirm please?

Hi,

Could someone confirm the 0-30 and 0-60 times with this video i made (count the frames in quicktime player, by using Window -> Show Movie Info that gives you accurate frame and second counter...

(right click save as)

http://fksconsulting.com/gary/DSCN0560.MOV

Car: 2002 WRX

TDC tuning stage 2 map, STI TMIC, 350 lbs (driver and passanger) + subwoofer + full tank of gas

My Estimated 0-30 using quicktime frame counter is 1.15 to 1.5 seconds (probably wrong)

My Estimated 0-60 using quicktime frame counter is between 5.0 and 5.2 seconds.

Please tell me what u got!

Thanks,

-Gary

You may be able to hit just under five without a passanger. But be sure to make the dashboard easy to see when your starting.

If you’re interested in stats like these; check out the Gtech performance meters. I borrowed a buddy’s and found it’s a really useful tool. Ran it on the strip at it was accurate within 1/10’th sec. Showed a 0-60mph in 4.0 second flat launch pulling 1G of force..

Cool meters…

without passenger and only 1/4 tank you drop like 250 lbs so that should be good for under 5!

G-techs have a problem with your car rocking back on the suspension giving them a false reading. Different cars sag back differently so they readings are all over the place. Good for simple fun though.

Simplest way that would be pretty accurate is to use a datalogger. I seem to remember that the MPH logged value is not that accurate, but RPM is so you can just do the math on your gearing ratio to find out exactly where 60 mph is. The time readout is very accurate as well, so this works great.

The Gtech has accelerometers in 3 axes. I don't think that is a problem anymore. The super old Gtech only had one in the fore/aft axis.

I believe the corrected this problem with different sensors to measure how the car is leaning back and accomodating for it....

I still agree with you though, just for fun toy...
