![]() I searched around but I would like some of you e85 guys to chime in on this. Currently my car is tuned on pump gas
2.4/7cm old school fpgreen perrin fmic 850cc inj 38mm gate header, catless blah blah car runs great, but I want more power of course. there are 4-5 e85 stations that opened up locally in the last 6 months and I think my best option for more power is an e85 tune. My tuner is fine with it but he thinks I might run out of injector. Assuming that i can somehow make a m ap switch between pump and e85... can I install an adjustable fuel pump regulator to raise fuel pressure, similar to what I used on my old 4g63 motor? I want this to avoid having to purchase and install larger 1000cc injectors. thoughts? just bite the bullet for larger injectors? or just screw the whole thing and bolt on a meth kit? ![]()

![]() If you are running out injectors with the 850cc even if you up the fuel pressure it will not be enough. You need to get the 1000cc no matter what.

![]() OK, I have some anecdotal evidence here:
I have a DOM 2.0 (52 lb/min), 38mm EWG, paralleled factory fuel rails, stock fuel pressure (43.5 psi), and e85. I have Bosch 1000CC injectors At 21.5 PSI boost, I am basically maxing my injectors 95%+ There are two things to consider here: 1) my tune is on the rich side, but still not excessively so and 2) the Bosch 1000CC units seem to flow less than 1000cc, probably closer to 925+ CC. Either way I'm maxed. I know that I can get these injectors to flow 1600CC if I raise the fuel pressure to 80+ PSI with the appropriate pump setup. You will see similar results, but you will max quicker due to the smaller injector. However, yes, raising your fuel pressure should increase their flowrate if your pump setup can back that up. This is a long winded explaination. If you are willing to up the pressure a good amount, you should be able to get those 850's to flow 1000cc+ I'd think. But your fuel system will likely need an upgrade too. |

![]() Upping the pressure would definitely help. Would it help as much as 1000cc injectors? No.
Would meth solve your problem? Probably not, unless you run a huge meth injector. And even then it is far harder to tune for the meth than it is to tune for larger injectors (having done both myself). I say just bite the bullet and get the larger injectors. |

![]() How much are putting down with the Dom2? Edit: I remember now, did you rise the boost or not? |

![]() I have not upped the boost yet because I haven't figured out what I want to do on the fuel system side of things. I will probably go with the same walbro 255 in the tank, a Bosch 044 inline, and an ajustable FPR. I'm then going to turn up the boost to about 24 psi. I am having an issue right now with what I think may be boost creep. It is possible I'm maxing out the 38mm EWG, but I don't know for sure until my tuner messes with some things. I need to remedy this issue though and I do not want to pay to upgrade to a 44mm. I've been toying with a crazy idea of using both the internal and external gates, but I haven't moved to put this idea into motion... yet. ![]() |
