THIS TRICK DOESN'T EXIST! It does nothing useful that will have any lasting results, and could potentially cause damage. It doesn't matter what year, it has the same affect on basically every fuel injected vehicle on the planet. They all have preset conditions with knock learning functions, and they all can be temporarily tricked.

Bad information just doesn't die!

I personally find this trick b**s**t. I blew my head gasket letting it rev for 5 seconds. who knows after it gets back from the shop it could be running like a champ if not I'll try it again.

i cant believe this is still a sticky.

this "trick" is useless with romraider and the ability to easily set the IAM to start at 16 (16 bit ecu) or 1 (32 bit ecu).

all the trick is doing is increasing the IAM quickly from its reset level in the ecu.

no one that tunes leaves the IAM down at the stock reset level.

I leave my IAM at .75 and it easily comes up to 1.0 within seconds of giving it a little bit of throttle. No need to do a song and dance.

what if you can't get your IAM to go to 16 and it just gets stuck at 15?

Then you find the problem that is making IAM drop rather then simply reset the ECU and do nothing to the tune.

If IAM is dropping, the ECU is detecting knock under rough correction and is lowering IAM in an effort to SAVE YOUR ENGINE. Fix the knock, then IAM will not drop - pretty simple.

this isn't the place to post that, though I'm sure someone would gladly help you out... you just need to post it somewhere else

/\ truth. I had e tunes by another sites highly praised vendors and just about all my tunes were pig rich taking out the $150 upstream, 9k rpm spikes and 19-20 psi on stock vf40 causing vacuum lines to blow apart often. They even had watered down tunes that would crack a stock TMIC. I went and got a real tune and haven't had any new issues since.

All this does is get your ignition advance multiplier to one. Total Timing = Base + (advance * IAM). You dont have to brake boost like the OP suggested. Just get in 2nd at 2k rpms and give partial throttle to hold boost at 0 psi to about 4 or 5k rpms. Or like another poster said, set your intial IAM value to 1(32bit ecu's) or 16 (16 bit ecu's) in your rom.

Make sure if you do this, that your map is known to be good. Otherwise I could see you easily knocking your engine to death as the boost goes up.
