Yep, newspaper works like a charm. I find it works best if you spray the glass cleaner on to the newspaper first and let the paper soften up before you take it to your windshield. Just be careful not to touch anything else with the newspaper otherwise it'll leave all the ink on it.

Post Cleaning windows with newspaper (Should this go in the tech forum?)

Can someone explain cleaning car windows with crumpled up newspaper? The first time I saw a guy do it, I thought he was crazy, but now I've heard about it a lot more. Does it work better than a rag or a paper towel?

I'm young. I figured it was a technique leftover from the Depression or something.

i heard if it too
tried it and was pleased with the results
i think because its very absorbent and lint free. lint is a problem with rags. and a paper towel is just a newspaper all softened up right?

I was sceptical of newspapers until I used them. The bums in the streets of Cleveland aren't as stupid as you think.

It does work well. No streaks and no lint, and it doesn't scratch tint. It's much more absorbent than paper towels and bigger too. I also use 100% cotton cloth, like cloth diapers, when I don't want black ink all over my hands.

Newspaper is soft enough not to scratch, but rough enough to scrape all of the film off the glass. It's a beautiful thing!
