Post Stock oil pressure enough?

For those of you people with turbos, is the stock oil pressure enought to circulate to the turbo and back to the engine?

as long as the pump doesn't exceed 25 psi the turbo would love the added pressure. I just wasn't sure our US-spec imprezas had the uhmph in their oil lines.

I think I would rather have a high Volume pump than high pressure pump but either would be nice... I don't think it is needed though.

You can increase the oil pressure by installing a restrictor in one of the oil passages. IIRC, thats what Group N cars' drivers do, since you are not allowed to change the oilpump. It works, hehe. If I would do it, I would also try to get/make a larger capacity oil pan to increase the amount of oil in the system.

Yes, the stock oil pressure is enough. According to Turbonetics, the Garrett T03/T4 was originally designed for low oil pressure deisel applications. As a matter of fact, I just changed the oil feed line from AN -4 to AN -3 to help cut down on the oil supply to the turbo so as not to cause blow-by. It seemed to be OK with the -4, but RalliSpec suggested -3 after speaking with Turbonetics.

According to my Oil Pressure gauge you will have just under 25PSI at idle. And just over 75PSi under load.

That is very enough unless u run some kind of very tricky setup.

Howdy..

That sounds about the same as the WRX/STI Turbo cars.. I think they all use the same pump.

When I rebuild engines I tend to increase the pressure by an extra bar.. to take them upto 7bar... this is used by the GrpN rally teams.. (as Alex mentioned)

You shim the pressure relief valve piston..or fit a stronger spring.. simple
