Default MWSOC/INR Event: July 7th Merrillville autoX - Full Event & Caravan Info

Please post if you are planning on attending or even just coming to watch - I'm trying to get a count of people showing up.

This is a BIG event! Hopefully we'll see the the entire Chicagoland area group, a bunch of the STL guys, Omahasubaru is coming out from Nebraska with a few of his crew again this year, and hopefully a bunch of the Wisconsin guys are coming down as well. I know there are some native Indianans showing up, but I haven't heard from the Michigan or Ohio guys (you guys out there? you coming??). We're expecting anywhere from 30-50 Subarus.

Everyone is welcome, you don't have to race if you don't want to, but the more Subarus that come, the better. Spectating is free, driving is $20 for non-members and $15 for members (SCCA or MWSOC). You can bring helmets as long as they are SA95 or M95 or newer helmets, they will work. Also there are rental helmets, though I suggest bringing a bandana to wear under them otherwise they'll be all sweaty if you have to share them.

There are tons of hotels in the Hobart/Merrillville area. If you're interested in staying down there to avoid the drive or are coming in from out of town, here are a few.

Motel 6
8290 Louisana
Merrillille, IN 46410
219.738.2701

LaQuinta
8210 Louisana
Merriville, IN 46410
219.738.2870

Nights Inn
8250 Louisana
Merrillville, IN 46410
219.736.5100

There is the Radisson, Best Western, Super 8, Comfort Inn, Days Inn, etc. Pretty much every big name hotel is here.

Event Schedule :
Registration & Tech. Inspection : 9am - 10:30am
Competitors' Meeting : 11am
First Car Off : 11:10am

Caravan Schedule :

We'll have some time in between stops (maybe a 20 or so minute stop each time) but it is to ensure that we get everyone at each oasis before leaving since different people will show up at different points. The larger-scale directions are located here - http://mwic.org/merrillville/

Looking at the map, I have a general idea where the oasis' are at. We'll set up 4 meeting points so that everyone can just go to the easiest one for them that way you don't have to backtrack in order to meet up with the group.

Meeting points and times :

294 a little south of Gurnee (Wendy's) - 6:45 until about 7:10 (if you know this distance/time down 294 to the Hindsdale Oasis better, please feel free to correct me)

Elk Grove Krispy Kreme - 6:30 until about 7:05 (on Devon about 1/2 mile west of Arlington Heights Rd. - Get off 355/290 at Biesterfield Rd. and head East (toward the Sun ) to Arlington Heights Rd. Make a right and go down to Devon (next light, I think) and make a LEFT (oops, thanks Jorge!). Look for Krispy Kreme on your left in about 2-3 blocks. Mmmmmmm, donuts *drool*)

Hindsdale Oasis on 294 near 55 (Wendy's) - 7:30 until about 7:55 (should be meeting both the WI/Gurnee Oasis cars here up with the Streets of Woodfield cars)

80/94 near the border of Indiana - 8:15 until about 8:35

We should arrive in Merrillville around 9am which will allow us a decent amount of time to set up and register.

I will be there to race (assuming I don't oversleep).

Wheee. My first auto-x of the new season. And on new tires (RE-950s), too.

I'll be there. If I bring the Legacy one last time, I'll probably caravan from Hinsdale. ( Although I do highly recommend beating the caravan to the site so you can watch it pull in, like I did last year. Of course, that idea doesn't scale well. )

If I get the MR2 ready, and the trailer wiring done in time, I'll tow down earlier with race tires and have to change on-site.

Either way, count me in.

Do I need to bring the white or black magnetic sheet for anyone, as I mentioned previously? Speak now, I have way too much work to do between now and then to ask again. ( Install struts, alignment, install Supertrapp, install trailer wiring, install new endlinks, maybe motor mounts, shift knob... God I hope I don't find anything else to do to it. )

Anyone need some tires? I have 41 right now.

Nick, have you planned for construction delays in your schedule? I understand large sections of Indiana Interstate are covered with orange cones of the evil variety.

hillman - No I didn't... hmmmm... well, if worse comes to worse we can get off before I-65 and head south on Broadway(?? I think it hits 80...). I'll have to look at a map of the area and make sure, I'm not too worried since we're only going maybe 15 miles into Indiana or so.

I have to go. That's all there is to it. If I can manage to get this guy to call me back, I'll have tires and will run too.

Nick: Bring MWSOC registration info please. If I register that day, can I get the discounted entry that day?

I will be there. I can't wait to try my new kumho race tires, 225/50/16 size fits great with no rubbing on the wrx.

I rather not do all that internet stuff I will probully meet up at the Hindsdale one if I can get my friend to wake up and come along and see real cars in action. (he is a mustang fan. I don't even know why I call him my friend)

Unless the wife rains on my parade. I'll be at the krispy kreme waiting for whoever to head out!

I'll bring the camera, and I'll get to put some miles on the new converter.

PS... at arlington heights and devon take a left (eastbound) not a right (westbound)

the KK will be on your left.... If you hit wooddale road you've gone to far by about 100yards...

I am in Evanston but I have to go out to hoffman to pick up my friend since he wants to see what real cars should be doing instead of the 0-60 crap. What would be the closest place to go for the meet up?
