You need to watch that movie from start to finish and pay special attention to the number of robots that escaped and how many they capture. Also the dream sequence is very important.

Great movie. especially when you consider how long ago it was made.

See the director's cut.

Watching the directors cut backwards from the end with the audio forwards from the beginning really helped me understand it.

It is a landmark SciFi movie on many levels.

It asks more questions than it answers.

It marks the emergence of Ridley Scott as a major talent.

Rutger Hauer gives a stunning performance as the robot that explains his motivations with poetry. Very eloquent irony. An acute subtlety of perception.

The dialog is really well crafted with a teasing obliqueness that makes you work -- just a little -- to get all of the intended content.

Read the book. it's a quick read. The book is called "Do Robots Dream of Electric Sheep?" or somethign real close to theat.

Funny thing is that the title "Blade Runner" has nothing to do with the movie. It was the title of a short story by the same author IIRC. Something about kids running around with doctor's bags (IE Blade Runner). similar setting as the movie, but entirely different plot.

Yes, but the replicant hunters in the movie are still called Bladerunners, as they were in the book.

You're saying that Ridley Scott's other classic sci-fi film Alien didn't already do that?

"all those moments will be lost in time like tears in the rain, time to die"....OK, I have watched it a little too much but that movie was poetry and ahead of its time.

People forget that Alien came out before Blade Runner.

Default Classic cinema

By far one of the top sci fi pictures made. The dark setting is truly believable as an actual space and time. Acting is top notch as is the story. Funny that Anne Rich pictured her LeStat character as the replicant played by Rutger Hauer. The Vangelis soundtrack also greatly compliments the atmosphere of the movie.
As said prior, check out the directors cut.
