After unable to find (to my standards) a snug fitting turbo blanket which fully encased the Blouch housing, I contacted a large well known US company to make a custom one. They were happy to and requested a 3D Scan of the housing. After I had it professionally scanned (it’s not cheap) they then decided that they didn’t want to do it as another blanket was close enough. Having no choice I purchased that blanket only to find it was oversized and certainly not suitable.
As so often, if you want it done right, you have to do it yourself. So back to the drawing board. I traced my Invidia Dump pipe flange using an old method we did as children on coins and then created the model. I want the shielding to cover up to the back of the dump studs/bolts.
Either I model the blanket to my exact design and find another company, or do a aluminium heat shield which will be internally lined with ceramic fibre insulation. I would make the shield to match the contour with a 20mm offset.
Im only interested in over engineering things and excel in procrastination. By having the scale prints it will make life much easier than carting the exhaust and turbo around the shed.
