Default 00 Impreza RS -- what size battery?

Even as poor a mechanic as I can probably install a new battery, but I am not sure what size to get. I see references to "Group Size 35" and "Group Size 26R." What should I be looking for?

Thanks a bunch!

Ask a battery supplier?
Look the car up on RockAuto, Autozone, etc?
Look up the current battery?

Hah, good catch, but no. It has been weak for a long time and it's not doing well in our current cold weather. There was no intrusion into the engine compartment from that collision fortunately. I want to pop in a new battery before the car is taken to a body shop to sit out in the cold, so it starts when they need to move it!

As to the size I did look it up and found two sizes listed, so I wasn't sure if one was a better choice. My current battery is old and corroded enough that it's hard to read the label!

I "think" it's the group 35, the 26R has reversed posts IIRC. But look at your........posts towards windshield, negative towards fender.

35 fits just about every Subaru. 26 is a smaller battery with less capacity.
