Default 2005 STI For 8K - Bad Idea?

So I posted this in the wrong thread I suppose since it was closed. Sorry if I am again cause I'm a noob.

So my friend knows a guy selling a 2005 WRX STI.

It runs and drive, has around 134k miles, a carbon fiber hood, and fender flares.

The reason hes selling it cheap is because there is a check engine for TGV, has an exhaust leak, and abs light is on.

I'm still waiting for more info, but based on those issues, any idea what TGV is, and what is required to fix it? Also the abs light, what could this involve?

I haven't spent a lot of time wrenching on cars, but I'm a quick learner, so I'm willing to put some time and money into this, but I just need an idea of what it will involve, and cost.

Thanks!

The reason your other thread got closed and the reason this will get closed is due to "cost".

There is just no way we can determine if this is a good deal and what the cost of repairs will be with so little information.

I've got a good hunch that this car has been through multiple owners and has many modifications and has been returned back to stock poorly.

Since you have very little experience I suggest you pass on this car or get a full inspection from a mechanic.

Now these are issues that I myself haven't dealt with on any of my subarus but I would pass on this deal.

The saying is true in the sense of you get what you pay for.

I would spend a little more and get one that isn't modified and needs less work. If it has a CF hood and fender flares, chances are the owner is a moron. Then again, if you think a car modded like this is a good idea then maybe it's a perfect deal for you! Leave the clean ones to those who won't mess them up.
