Default 1988 Subaru RX turbo 4wd in incredible shape (pics)

Well everyone, i just got this car, but im interested in seeing what i could get for it. This thing is in insanely good shape. It has had only one owner for the last 13 years, and one before that. The exterior is awsome with one dinged area from a slow parking lot bump by an old lady (as can be seen on the door in the 3rd pic), but other than that the outside in incredible. And that little ding is barely noticable anyway. The paint is great on it, i cant wait to see what a good wax/buff will do to it.

The inside is probably about the best interior ive ever seen in soemthing from the 80's. It is 95% mint in there. It has all the power options, original everything, it has a/c but i feel its not blistering cold, even though a new compressor was put in not too long ago. The car has 150,000 miles on it, but it seems to run very very well. It does have a small oil drip from somewhere, i havnt located it yet.

Basically, this car is probably one of a kind as far as the condition. Anyone interested? Any good offers? I wont sell this if i cant get a really good offer for it. Let me know, thanks!

Yes. Engine is direct bolt in.

gotime242: DO NOT SELL THIS FOR UNDER $2,000. These cars are EXTREAMELY RARE and HARD TO FIND in that condition.

I've had 3 in the last year. The 87 that i have now was in that condition but had a blown headgasket...I got it for $500. Its been all done up and is THE official 'Old School' representation car. I autocross is everychance I get. The other two I got for ~$500 as well....it was stealing basically. Two of them were worth more like $1,500...the other $1,200.

By the way...im getting these power figures out of it at the wheels...but ignore the air/fuel after 5k...the probe blew out...and YES it needs engine management and injectors to be safe at those boost levels (15PSI) all day long. its completely safe stock at 10 PSI.

That translates to 234hp and 313tq at the crank.

Weight? factory curb is 2670...mine with only 1/2 tank of gas in it? 2548.

These are a RARE gem. Keep it or give it to me.

Holy cow!! The sti engines are a DIRECT BOLT IN?????

What about the entire sti awd system? Could the rx's parts that it has now (tranny, diff and all that goodness keep up with it?)

Has anyone done it? How much do the swaps usually cost?

And wow only 2600 lbs!! thats great!

Im really starting to fall for this car...

Yep, the engine drops right in place.

entire AWD system? Sure. You will have to fabricate a transmission cross member, shorten the shift linkages, shorten the driveshaft...but not by much. The rear diff can be bolt up...ive never looked closer.

The transmission has taken my abuse and power levens for the last 20k miles and shows NO signs of getting ready to break...so you can order one of those EJ-EA adapter plates from USMB and you are good to go.

There are very few who have actually done an EJ turbo swap...several more who have done NA EJ swaps. you find them all on www.usmb.net on the forums. As for cost? the cost of the engine-wiring harness-misc parts to complete it. I have no idea on exact figure. Could range from as less as $200 to as much as $6,000 (STi swap).

by the way...all of the parts I am using are avalible off of other SUBARUs around those years...the radiator came out of an 89 turbo-Full Time 4WD automatic, either sedan, wagon or RX.

The fans? the stocker that comes on the passenger side...and the driver side one came out of a 'gen2' from 1980-1984 with AC.
