2018 WRX base with Invidia Q300
Installed this exhaust today. Cat back. Installation was straightforward. It seems to be quieter than stock when driving normally but a difference can be heard when I accelerate.

How does the Q300 compare to stock at cold start?

It's definitely a little louder and deeper. At cruising speed there is no drone. Maybe 2018's "quieter cabin" updates? It's quieter than stock when cruising.

The FA motor is very quiet. The Q300 has massive mufflers and is 2.5 inch after the Y pipe so it is VERY quiet. I'm sure you will want to add a J-pipe now OP.
For those who want a bit more volume and are sticking to catback only, get a system with smaller mufflers and 3 inch after the Y. I have a cheaper system on mine with a resonator, two smallish canons at the back and full 3 inch. It is louder than a Q300, but still will be fine with a J-pipe. I am 40+ and not looking for an overly loud car, it is just a quiet engine compared to the EJs. Last edited by bungarra; 10-14-2017 at 08:05 AM. |

I’m really happy with the mildness of the sound. I’m an older guy in the wrx realm, so it’s all good.

Did you need the adaptor from the stock dp to the exhaust? Just picked this up and was wondering if it was needed?

Assuming you have a 3" catback, then no. Or maybe I got lucky. I have a stock dp/jp and an invidia n1 style, and the catback overlaps perfectly where the donut gasket came off, no exhaust leaks or anything. |
