Default Cobb Tuning Vs Vishnu ECU reflash

Yes im a complete noob when it comes to this stuff.. but I was wondering the opinions of any of you who might know the benefits of one of these over another. I know Vishnu's sub-zero kit is 650 opposed to Cobb's $395 for the first stages. Any first hand experiences or recommendations? The hp gains seem identical, so i didnt understand why vishnu would charge so much more. Thanks for any replies or recommendations in advance!

Cobb did all their ECU cracking in-house, so thats why they can charge less for it. Vishnu on the other hand uses another company for their ECU tuning capabilities. Thats the reason for the price difference. As far as performance, thats a longer explanation. I would say read some posts, do some searches, and figure out who you like more. I think it pretty much comes down to that.

I have COBB stage 2. Love it! Plus, they really know their stuff and are willing to give you any info right over the phone.

Why?

How is it better than Vishnu? (price withstanding)

Do you have experience with both?

Cobb explained Stage 1 to me as being what a JDM WRX would drive like if you bought it and drove it off a lot in Japan.

Hey I know this is a pretty bad thread hijacking but do you guys know if ECU reflashes (i'm looking at the Cobb AccessPORT) affect emissions a lot?

Apologies to BiggyTim for hijacking his thread but I was about to post a nearly identical question about this...

That doesn't really help now does it? I don't know what I like best, that is why I am asking about it

Cheerleaders don't help much either
Again- Why Cobb all the way?

I have driven a Vishnu tuned car and it was very sweet and the owner raved about it but I have not experienced a Cobb tuned car. Other than the obvious cost difference, is there a difference in performance, or reliability? Does the power come on differently between the two?
What reasons to pick one over the other besides price?

Anyone had experience with both?

I have searched (for hours) and while there is info on both, I could not find a comparison

There are reasons there is more than one tuner. Both do a great job. Is there a Cobb reseller close to you? Is there a Vishnu dealer close by? Maybe if one is closer, that will sway your opinion.

Not that I know of, I was under the impression that you ordered the stuff from them and installed it yourself or found a shop that would be willing to do it for you.

Thats one way to do it. I know Cobb's website has their authorized resellers and tuners listed.

From my understanding, the first stage reflash (without any actual physical mods, just the reflash) will actually reduce emissions and increase mileage.

How?

Again, from my understanding, stock, the WRX runs somewhat rich (to keep exhaust temps low or something? I dunno). The reflash will lean out the a/f mix a little, adding horsepower, reducing emissions (with more oxygen, the combustion should go to completion more), and increasing mileage (because of the leaner mix, you're using less fuel per combustion.

It does sound like a miracle worker.

I have cobb stage 2 and have no complaints and for $395 you can't beat it. As far as Vishnu I assume their product is equal(aside from cost) and if I had to choose I would go with whomevers tuning facility is closer for a dyno tune to get everything out of the car possible. If you are not intrested in eventually getting a dyno tune I would go with the least expensive(since they are more or less comparable).
My 2 cents

Well thanks again for your replies. Ive been doin alot of researching and have found no one that dislikes their ecu reflash from cobb. And since its cheaper, im gonna go ahead and get the stg. 1 reflash. Hopefully everything runs smoothly :P
