The hood scoop design and integration is MUCH better. I'm not a fan of hood scoops on modern designs since my LGT. That's the first since that I like... if there has to be one at all.

Goempie's deduction of a tease fits my unsupported guesses. It's past time... although that's a pic from Japan, it's home market, so?? Could Americans handle a CVT-only Levorg anyway... I certainly could, Aussies obviously can, but if you believe the balance here is representative it'd have some resistance in this market. I'd jump on one myself.

But what is the camera statement referencing... Hitachi vs autoliv? Never heard about either myself. More autonomous stuff?

In a heartbeat. The new CVT programming is very, very good. I've had the "revised Gen2" CVT in my '17 ImpSport for 2+ years now. I can't say I miss rowing gears in a daily driver, or think of a time where I said "I wish this was a stick". I'm not racing it, but it can hold gears just fine, and downshifts a LOT better, and easier, than I ever could in turns, without upsetting the car even.

Agreed with SeeeeeYa and KC. I'd CVT Levorg.

But I'd also STI 6MT Wagon.

And I'd BRZ again.

Identity crisis imminent.

Thanks for posting! Always bringing the goods!

Wow is that camo effective. Maybe too effective, looks horrible! It looks so formless, I strained my eyes thinking maybe it had cladding added to disguise curves.

The biggest things jumping out at me are the not-so-flared fenders (maybe the camo doing its job) and that there is apparently no wheel-well cladding. This was a prominent feature on all of the Viziv WRX/Levorg concepts in some form, especially aggressive on the STI. I figured some form of it was coming, for better or worse.

lol

I'm starting to feel like we'll get it in all of its CVT glory. At least for like a year, since it will probably cost as much as a comparably equipped Ascent and nobody will buy it aside from a few of you saints.

It would need to be precisely what I want for me to take on a car payment again for it - not going to happen.

It looks like the SGP Impreza, but with a hood scoop.

Shocked.

SHOCKED.

In my mind's eye I see 1" lower rear 1.5" front, chin dam, couple of fender vents beside the hood, CF roof, and an articulating CF rear spoiler, in WRB or Arctic White rolling on big meat in flared fenders.

An almost illegally nasty exhaust exiting 330 91 octane powered horses worth of trouble.

STI 2021 time... or time to wake up.

If this is what we were supposed to get our hopes up for the STI then BORRRING. The CTR definitely is winning the aggressive look category.

Your opinion. Not mine.

I prefer something more refined than bloody-nose looks on a pimp.

CTR is a great design if you're feeling particularly racy. Otherwise the Levorg is a nice balance of subdued and sporty.

no kidding, conservative to a key. subaru means conservation of all products. look at every so called all new vehicle up to this point. every vehicle before it got SGP treatment looks looks like their 2014 year counterparts in some way. however they kept improving their interiors, their engines, and safety. subaru does not put their concern on crazy bodies for concern of not compromising their excellent visibility. the new 2020 impreza sport hatch has the short throw 5-speed manual. what does that mean? it is no longer a mystery the new wrx will be based off of the impreza.

the 2018-2020 wrx is still based off of the 2012-2016 impreza in everything from the taillights to the layout of the interior of the dash. the overall look of the body of the(new) wrx will most likely be based on 2020 impreza. however as we have seen with the new legacy, even though the new body is very close to the older generation, the new interior is very different except for the steering wheel. the new wrx will probably keep the 2020 steering wheel but have different center console, dash, and new sport gauges together with the upgraded engine

From the photos kayen has up, looks like:
-Headlights are a fair amount shorter than the Impreza. Notch-style, like the Ascent, Legacy, etc.
-Fog bezel area looks to have some 3-tier shape, based on the third picture. I'm assuming some three-claw look not too far from the 2020 STi.
-There may be a big "mouth" hiding under the wrap. If you look at pics #1 and #3, the shape of the bumper comes back in quite a bit compared to a usual, more vertical "drop." A large, end-to-end "opening" would also be more in line with Subaru's recent front styling.

I'm confused, these are next gen Levorg pics? Are they what we think the next gen WRX will look like?

I'd come back to Subaru for either a 1.6T Impreza hatch, or a hatch WRX. But if Honda is indeed making a 5 door Si hatchback, it'll probably have to be a WRX hatch to beat that.

While i agree with your points they can do a whole lot of trickery with tape, foam, and camo wrap. I've been staring at these photos and trying to come up with something more concrete. The side most picture reveals the most convincing features.
1) the 'flats' around each wheel well are about twice as thick/tall as the current levorg
2) the rear quarter glass definitely has a more aggressive slope upwards on the bottom that also accentuates the more prominent rear fender

Neither of these would you do on a facelift, and both are subtle hints from the Viziv concept.

Interesting the plate is blocked out on these pics; but, not in the first linked pic.

so when the near production ready concept is revealed, which one of you guys are going to subify it. we know how subaru is with their cars. and despite the new platform, they will reach into that subaru parts bin. so which pro photo shoppers will subify that new concept when it releases.

I hope that if they do include FA24 + all the shiz in the STI that the price won't be insane because then just get the corvette.

Ah yes, what a great point. STI's closest competitors...the Corvette. One the tow most cross shopped cars. My kids will love the rear seat room, and I am sure it will be a stellar performer on my daily commute in a foot of snow. The 25K or so price difference is really pocket change. Practicality is wash between them too. Thanks.

Engine of levorg will be new 1.8 Dit. Will be an interesting engine. Normally cilinder deactivation too and was going to be +40% efficiency. Next engine Will be 1.5DIT.

those engines are only for the JDM. we will most likely have improved FA20dit and upgraded FA24dit. I wouldn't mind the 1.8 dit in a forester xt though

I can't imagine Subaru will continue with 155 hp engines in Impreza, Crosstrek, Forester etc.

Pretty soon it won't just be Honda, everyone will have 190 hp turbos in their competitors. Weak little N/A engines aren't going to cut it, in power or mpg.

I'm afraid they will continue with them until people stop freaking buying them.
