Default ETS Intake and Airbox Install

How to Install ETS Intake and Airbox on 2015 WRX

Hey guys, we installed an ETS intake on a customer's car the other day and thought we'd put a little install guide together. It is a pretty easy install with very minimal tools.

To start out, you'll want to remove the plastic under tray from the bottom. There are two 12mm bolts (you could use a Philips screwdriver too if you want), and thirteen plastic clips. A small flat head screw driver will make short work of these.

Once the tray is removed, you'll have plenty of room to access everything you need to change out your intake. Next, you'll want to take off the ram air snorkel by removing the two plastic clips holding it to the radiator support. Also, remove the 10mm nut holding the air box to the bracket that connects it to the fender. And finally, you can now remove the 10mm bolt connecting the airbox to the frame rail. You can also remove the bracket connecting to the frame. You'll need those to studs as mounting tabs for the ETS air box.

You can now remove the front half of the intake.

Now, loosen the lower inlet pipe clamp in order to remove the entire upper airbox and inlet pipe at the same time. You will also need to use a 10mm wrench to disconnect the intake from the lower bracket.

Make sure you also unplug the MAF Sensor. Push down on the clip and pull back away from the sensor.

Now that everything is disconnected, you should be able to pull the air box up and the rest of the intake will come with it.

Once the Airbox is out of the car, you can remove the MAF sensor using a phillips screwdriver.

Reinstall the OEM MAF sensor into the ETS MAF housing, also using a phillips screwdriver. Make sure it is facing the proper direction.

At this time you can plug the ETS MAF extension into the OEM Harness. Use the supplied electric grease to prevent any water damage to the electrical connections.

Next you'll want to assemble the ETS straight coupler to the ETS inlet pipe with two of the clamps. Attach the pipe to the turbo inlet piece and leave it loose so you can maneuver when you install the upper portion of the ETS intake.

From the top, go ahead and use supplied bolt with washers to attach the ETS turbo inlet to the frame rail. You will need to use the pliers to remove the wiring harness clip and use that whole for the intake bracket.

Now you can place the ETS Reducer coupler on the inlet pipe and attach the ETS MAF housing. Plug in the MAF sensor at this time as well because it will be difficult to do so once the filter and box are on.

Test fit the air box before tightening any clamps to make sure there are no interferences. If you are clear, remove the box and tighten all the clamps to lock the intake in place.

Before installing the box, remove the bracket on the side of the box and bolt it to the fender using the supplied hardware. You will need a 10mm socket wrench and the T4 Allen.

Once you have the bracket bolted to the fender, you can install the rest of the box. Bolt the box to the bracket first and then use the supplied bolt to bolt the box to the frame.

Now you can reinstall the air snorkel. Slide it into the air box firs then reinstall the OE Plastic clips.

At this time, I would start the car and make sure there are not check engine lights. If all is well, reinstall the plastic under tray.

Now you can enjoy your new ETS intake!

I found this guide and used it for a 2018, the 2018 uses an existing bracket to bolt the box on with two nuts, and there was no milk jug, other than that everything was smooth. Thanks for the write up!

Do you have exact specifics for the hardware supplied with the intake system? I want to buy this from another member on the forum, but they may not have the hardware.
