And to start the new page off right, close-up of probably the best stitching I've ever done:

Thanks guys, this is the first thing I've made I feel like I'd be happy selling with my name on it. It still has some mistakes (three, but who's counting?) but they're so small I doubt anyone other than me would be able to spot them.

Back from the dead.
After getting burned out on this over the Holidays I finally decided to break out the toolbox last night and get back into it. Started with a small project, my 3rd attempt at a watch band. This was made from a piece of scrap that was ether 3/4oz or 5/6oz leather, which is really too thick for this application. But it's an ok practice exercise, working on getting the consistency down perfectly while not spending ages doing it. Got some 2/3oz leather coming, and a friend that wants a strap for his watch so I might actually sell something in the next few months |

I know exactly what you are going through. I used to make custom etched glassware and it was killing my eyes and hands.

Let me know once you start selling. I'm not fond of the stock watch band that came on my Citizen.

So you have to press that into a mold, right?

If you ever make a checkbook cover, let me know! I'd be interested.

You can make a wooden blank and then press the leather over it, and if I was going to be doing these en masse then that'd be the way to go. But this one (and the Kershaw friction sheath above it) are both wet molded by hand.
This video shows the technique I used: And this one shows a wooden mold: Quote:

Kidding, something like that should be pretty easy. But since I'm trying to avoid Matt A's wrath (and well, the IRS too) I'm not officially selling anything at this point. But it's probably coming soon, as several people have been asking. |

So I liked the Swiss Army knife that I got for my GF's dad so much I went out and bought another one for myself. Then set about fixing all the mistakes I made on the last pouch and adding a bunch of features. Really happy with how this one came out.
Swiss Army Camper, and a Mini LED Maglite (the LED is bright, this is a great keychain flashlight) The retention on both knife and flashlight is great, but I'll add a little shock-cord lanyard to the Maglite that can be hooked around the front so it can't slide out. The best part? The part I'm so ****ing pleased with myself over? It's a horizontal carry, so if you wear it at 3 or 9 o'clock you can turn the flashlight on and it'll illuminate the ground in front of you. While I'm sure I'm not the first to think of this, it's the only one I've ever seen designed this way. Last edited by WhiteKnightSTi; 04-09-2016 at 09:49 AM. |

Added the shock-cord lanyard to the Maglite, now impossible for it to fall out accidentally.
And a shot of me in skinny jeans: |
