I have the nameless muffler delete.. Cold starts are definitely loud, but then it's pretty mellow.. It has a nice growl under heavy acceleration, and a really nice purr in s# when idling. I posted several videos in my build that sound fairly close.
If you're in the Everett, wa area, I'm more than happy to meet local for those interested

What is the closest setup to resemble the old UELH boxer rumble without being overly loud and drone?

Correct, when sitting at a light you can just barely tell a difference

To be honest you are not going to even get close to the same sound with EL headers.

I will say it's pretty freaking loud on a cold start when (I am assuming) the TGVs are closed. It makes a sort of raspy whistle but once open (10-20 sec) it goes back to a nice rumble.

Does anyone else think the cold start is loud on their j-pipe set up?
A larger J-pipe definitely makes an impact on exhaust volume and tone. With our J-pipe, we also noticed amplification of turbo whistle/sounds which is pretty neat. Cold-starts are going to be loud regardless of the aftermarket exhaust in place. Cold-start idle speed is set quite high on the WRX in order to quickly heat the catalyst for reduced emissions.

Thanks

Definately agree. The other point you mention is that the turbo whistle (spool) sound is very evident now.

Also known as the "warm up cycle" and I presume that you're referring to the cats in the exhaust?

No he's referring to the cats resting in your engine bay because it is cold out

I'd assume this is adjusted out on a catless stage 2 tune?

Default STI catback on stock WRX?

Thinking about adding an STI catback on my stock 2016 WRX. Is a tune recommended?

Here's the closes I've seen for ETS vs Nameless comparison:

So now that I have been on the Mishimoto + Depo Racing Catted J pipe for a week, I give the combo an A+ for sound! I LOVE the sound.

To be honest the Mishimoto with the stock J pipe was an improvement but wasn't all that I hoped for personally but with the added J Pipe the sound is AWESOME.

The best way I can describe the transition is like this:

Stock J Pipe + Mishimoto CBE = Increased noise over all RPM range. Mostly lower frequency exhaust notes. When cruising at highway speeds you can't really hear it. under WOT it is pretty aggressive.

Catted J Pipe + Mishimoto CBE = Increased noise over just the CBE but mostly in the mid tones. Much more throaty and aggressive at all RPMs and engine loads. To me this combo is the perfect balance on being able to hear the engine at all the times you want to but never when you are highway cruising or trying to keep it quiet on purpose.

Do you have video comparisons with and without the J pipe?

Anyone pick up the Turboxs catback for their wrx yet? It sounds promising from the YouTube video, but I want to hear a review on it. Hopefully no drone.
The one review I saw was about fitment, but that was for a 2013, and I want to know if there's the same issues for the 15+

I was set on the N1 but I'm not crazy about losing my quad tips, and I saw the maperformance video says it's a bit droney

I have the nameless muffler delete 3.5' double walls on my 16. It looks great and sounds awesome. I like it.

End results are worthy to wait. I've ordered mine and it took five weeks to get it.

Anybody running the Greddy SP Supreme cat-back on their 15'-16' WRX? I'm thinking of purchasing one soon but just wanted to get any possible opinions.

Ya Ive seen that before, I just wish he had the small ETS mufflers, cause eventually mine will be a catback and then a turboback.

Anyone had any issues with the Nameless stuff? Cause I have heard that some people are saying that after it looks horrible and the material starts to pit etc....

I can't wait for people to start getting the Borla CBE on the 15+ WRX. While I am pretty happy with the mishimoto that is the only other exhaust that really intrigues me.

Is it still in R&D? Right now I am really liking the sound of the ETS Catback and Turboback.
