Default TGV delete aftermath??

I deleted my tgv's today, bought them off of another member and installed them. Now it runs kinda choppy like a misfire but the codes haven't popped up for it yet.

You have a vacuum leak. You missed one of the 900 vacuum fitting connections...it happens. Check every fitting. Same thing happened to me as I missed the one that goes under the throttle body.

Yes plan to get e85 tune as soon as I get injectors.

You don't need a tune for TGV deletes (other than to turn off the codes, and to make sure the extra flow hasn't push you into untuned regions of your map at WOT). Do people forget we run a MAF-based fueling system?

People read too far into the "everything you do needs a tune" part of NASIOC.

I figured out the problem that one of the injectors wires came out of the plug.

Did that too first time I did air pump or something. Never touched them but somehow plug on 4 got loose. Drove 2 hours to the tuner and just thought the roughness was normal with the check engine etc. sounded like a 3 cylinder but never dawned on me till tuner checked the spark timing and saw 4 was off. Wasted over half a tank of gas too in that short drive. Live and learn.

Thank you for updating what the solution was. Vacuum leak was a great diagnosis though. Get a tune was on the verge of retardation. Only thing you should notice from this swap is a slightly rougher idle at cold startup.

Glad to hear you got it figured out.

I'd be surprised if you noticed a rougher idle, even in cold starts.

It's a reasonable theory based on what the TGVs (better atomization) and when (my LGT only has them active at startup (some later models use them more)) but I have yet to hear of a first-hand report from someone who did cold starts with them, did a swap, and did cold starts without them.

One of the guys at LegacyGT.com, who lives in Canada and uses a block heater in the winter, said his car still started and idled just fine with the TGVs removed, even in the winter.

There was a time (and maybe it's still true) that TGVs were a USDM-only thing (or at least, they weren't used in JDM cars). So I'm pretty sure they're strictly for post-startup emissions.

And you don't need a tune for them.

And people create vacuum leaks while doing the delete all the time, so that was my guess too.

Rubber? OP has an 04 STi, there are no rubber seals in the TGV/manifold area.

You dont need to take the whole manifold out. Just unbolt from tgv and pull old ones put and rebolt the fuel rails to it
