Default Wheels to make the most of your stock 2018+ STI tires

We noticed that a lot of 2018+ STI owners were reluctant to change out wheels on their new STI, because they had perfectly good (and expensive) OEM tires and any aftermarket wheels they could buy would not allow for the re-use of the stock tires. 18" wheels are obviously the wrong diameter, and most 19" wheels are 9.5" wide, which is too wide for a 245/35R19 tire. (You could do it, but it would be pretty stretched, and the edge of the wheel would get nicked and damaged from road debris.)

With that in mind, we made a new size of our Mach V Crucial wheel. It's 19x9.0", which splits the difference nicely between the stock 19x8.5" size and larger 19x9.5" wheels. You can transfer the stock 245/35R19 tire to the 19x9" Mach V Crucial wheel and it will fit very nicely. It will look like this:

Then once you've gotten full use from your stock tires, you can move to a wider tire, like a 265/30R19, which looks like this:

These are some pre-production samples of the 19x9" Crucial wheel you're seeing here. We'll have inventory ready for sale around end of February 2021.

All the more reason to take them off and keep them pristine until the day you sell the car!

Dan, thanks for sharing. A nice looking wheel indeed.

own the market by offering a product few others offer/supply; clever business idea if I do say so myself...

Thank God I don't have a hard time looking for rims for my 225/60R18 100H tires. I just placed an order on an 18-inch American Racing Wheels.

Beautiful wheels. Being an ex-Audi B5-S5 owner, your new wheels reminds me a lot of the immensely popular RS series wheels back in the days. Kudos to your company for taking good care of the Subaru communities in the right way. What is the manufacturing method of these wheels, casted or rotary forged?

They are flow formed, so they are lighter and stronger than cast wheels, less expensive than forged.

Just a follow-up. These are now in stock, in four colors, including bronze and gunmetal, plus the gold and Bright Silver pictured above.

Mach Crucial 19x9" wheels.
