Question Protective Coating for Emblem??

Hey guys,

I have an aftermarket WRX "FA20" emblem on the trunk of my car. I really like it, and it looks really nice. However, the salt from the winter is absolute hell on this emblem. After the winter, it's all pitted and the clearcoat is just trashed.

This is my second emblem. My first emblem was trashed after the first winter. This second and current emblem, I coated with a clearcoat in the fall when I put it on. I layered 7-8 thin coats on the emblem. But, the clearcoat didn't seem to make any difference at all and now my emblem is just as beat up as my first.

I'm going to swap emblems AGAIN for a third time, with a fresh one.

Before I go ahead and swap it out, does anyone have any recommendations for a "heavy-duty" coating that I could put on it so it doesn't get trashed again from all the salt?

I have tried a basic wax as well, but it just doesn't last and the salt is too harsh.

Thanks!

Is it just a bumper sticker?

Try a better quality sticker. Some are made better to withstand the elements. If its your traditional die cut paper sticker its not going to last long no matter what you do. No paper sticker will last long when wet.

Try ceramic coating or a better quality sticker.

I should have clarified ...

It's a metal/glass emblem.

The coating turns to crap and it gets super pitted from the salt from the winter. I've coated it with high-temp clear coat, but it made no difference. I really like the badge. If I have to replace it each year, I will. But if I can save $60/year on badges ... that would be best.

Maybe applying some sort of wax can help.

Can of automotive grade clear coat, apply or spray it before installing. Rustoleum is okay, 2k is better but $$

I tried Rustoleum and it just didn't hold up to the salt. I figured it would have, but nope.

Ah well. Maybe this is just something that I'll have to deal with replacing every year.
