Default Returning to NASIOC!!!

The Drnwagn is back...sort of. Minus the boost Picked up a 2021 CrossTrek limited yesterday and happy to be back in a Suby. Been gone for a while now and had 3 different cars since with the most recent being a 2002 Outback (nothing to discuss there.)

In any case, for now the plan is just to drive it and do some more research in to wheel fitment as well as suspension options. The goal for this little car is to just make it look decent and enjoy the ride. No plans for turbo installs, full exhaust...maybe a drop in filter or intake but you never know. a year or two from now it may have a full exhaust and I may be looking into getting some remapping of air/fuel ratios done. Probably some braided lines and better pads/rotors but all in good time.

I do have some questions of course and I did use the "Search" button first!

1. Anyone put some new wheels on a 2020-21? (hate the stock wheels)
2. How wide of a wheel to you go with? 8", 8.5"???
3. Rubbing issues? really doesn't look like there will be any room for something with a lower offset.
4. Anyone lowered one?
5. Anyone know if WRX suspensions fit the CrossTrek?

Just curious about any cross over type parts as that always opens up options from more vendors.

Alright yall, happy to be back and ready to learn more about my new platform.

Oh I know all about the old shop owned by this guy! Planned on going out there in the near future just to play catch up. Thanks for the info tho! The old shop was #Andrewtech they worked on my FXT a few times back in the day! Yeah I thought about doing a lift but that just isn't me. I went back and forth between a 4-Runner and this and decided I still liked little cars!

fitment industries has good specs and a gallery with a bunch of new outbacks you could check out.

Here are their recommendations

Diameter: 18" to 21"
Width: 7" to 9"
Offset: 35mm to 55mm

REAR SIZES:
Diameter: 18" to 21"
Width: 7" to 9"
Offset: 35mm to 55mm

My car is a CrossTrek not Outback.
I did check out their site and they don't even list a CrossTrek going back to 2018 so no such luck there if you will. That doesn't mean they don't sell wheels that will fit so definitely thanks for the site direction.

As you know, the wheel wells in 18+ Crosstreks are vastly larger than XV's where just putting snow tires on in stock size guarantees rubbing. (I know...I have one of each). Something to be very careful of.....people will tell you that you can use Impreza suspension. For the front, you can't. They're completely different and nothing will fit.

Wheels....I don't know. I've run wheels from an old legacy and an 07 WRX on my 19. Check Tire Rack. They're quite good for offering only wheels that'll fit on whatever car you want to change up. Ask for Luke. He's our NASIOC liason. I've bought at least a dozen sets of wheels and tires through him over the years. When the survey comes after you buy, be sure to include the comment: "Luke is teh awesome".

On tire size, with a premium or base, the stock size is 225-60-17. My snows are 225-65-17 and fit just fine. I'm sure a 70 series would even fit. I want the car higher in the winter for more clearance, so up the tire size just a bit.

well I'm looking to be on an 18x8.5 and somewhere around a 225-245/40-45 tire. So the offset will need to be somewhere between +35-50 I believe.

As for the suspension, I have indeed heard that you could run an impreza suspension or after market ones that are made for it. None the less, I have been looking into ISC and I believe the other company is Anderson or something like that (Andrew, local renowned suby shop owner is looking into them. He has used quite a few of their kits to lift a few CT's but wasn't sure of the range...how low one can go). ISC is made for the CT but not sure if they have one for the 2021's as they only advertise for up to a 17 so I guess I'll have to give them a call. We shall see.
