Default 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Black Diamond Edition is simply black

Quote:
Following the two Black Edition Porsche’s we saw this month, General Motor’s Cadillac brand is getting black limited with the new Black Diamond Edition of the Cadillac CTS-V lineup.
“The CTS-V Black Diamond Edition is like a finely crafted, tailored tuxedo,” said Michelle Killen, Cadillac exterior paint designer. “The base color may be a simple black, but the details and richness of the material set it apart.”
What else is so special about the Cadillac CTS-V Black Diamond Edition? It will be the first use by any automaker of JDSU’s SpectraFlair pigment in North America. JDSU specializes in cutting-edge color solutions for a wide range of markets.
Click here for more news on the Cadillac CTS-V.
In addition to the Black Diamond paint, the CTS-V Black Diamond comes standard with a bunch of optional features and has Satin Graphite 19-inch wheels with yellow Brembo brake calipers, Recaro seats that feature 14 adjustable elements and Midnight Sapele wood trim.
Prices for the Cadillac CTS-V Black Diamond start at $69,190 for the manual and $70,490 for the automatic (a $4,850 premium over the base price-tag). The Black Diamond is available on the CTS-V Sedan, CTS-V Coupe and the CTS-V Sport Wagon and will hit dealerships in March.
Check out the high-res gallery, video and press release after the jump.

People from Pittsburg should like that interior, too bad I loathe the Steelers.

Offset with gray, yes. That beige takes the black away from Black Diamond.

Just to make sure I'm comprehending this correctly, it's a $4,850 premium for different colors, right? The exterior paint (though nice) is essentially just a better paintjob, the calipers are just painted yellow instead of silver, the interior has black and yellow (black and yellow, black and yellow, you know what it is) seating surfaces and a different wood trim instead of black/gray, and the wheels are "Satin Graphite" instead of silver... and performance remains exactly the same. Does that sum it up?

I agree, the beige should be replaced with the gray alcantara from the steering wheel.

Wheels straight from the GXP, but colored.

I still don't care for the lines of the coupe. It looks awkward - like it was an afterthought.

Why wood grain trim? Why?

It is not a horseless carriage.

Well, all that, plus...

And yes, performance remains the same. I don't think performance is increased in any of Cadillac's Diamond line so this surprises nobody.

EDIT: Gotta admit though, thread title got me. Thought all the chrome was gonna be blacked out/gun metal, I had a boner and everything. Oh well.

^ But the "optional features" were already part of what I named, according to the link.

Just checked the link, and it still says "a bunch of optional features and..." the stuff you listed, unless I'm missing something.

Even if you're right, it sounds like you're implying that it's overpriced or something. The Recaros just by themselves are $3400, something most of the competition doesn't even offer, and that's without the custom leather. Throw a set of wheels, special paint, trim and such and $4,850 sounds about right. On top of the fact the car is an unbeatable value within the segment anyway.

But further down the article, it says:

In addition to the unique paint, CTS-V Black Diamond comes standard with content that complements its look and feel. The special edition has:

***9702;Satin Graphite 19-inch wheels with yellow Brembo brake calipers. These six-piston front, four-piston back brake calipers provide exceptional stopping capabilities.
***9702;Recaro seats that feature 14 adjustable elements, French-stitched leather and microfiber suede inserts in the center sections of the cushions and seatbacks.
***9702;Midnight Sapele wood trim known for its durability and distinctive grain.

I don't see anything else in either article, unless I'm trippin.

My bad, I thought the Recaros were standard, so it makes more sense.

I love the performance of this car, but I just don't get a few things that kill it for me.

Hate the brakelight wing
Hate the V shaped rear
Hate the overly cheap looking center with a million different things to look at and all the Plasti-crome

It's kind of a nice one. The nav slides down when not in use and the top part of the screen acts as a radio display.

This keeps the screen from fully taking over the console, and makes the non-nav cars look a little less "hey, where's my nav?"
