I had that idea at first, but didn't know what spacer size to choose, so ended up getting new wheels instead. Looks great with the stockers.

Thank you, thank you. I initially had 5mm on just 'cause, came across 25s at a steal and now want to jump up to 30-33 to finalize things.

Quick to troll and tell me to search, but getting an answer is a lot harder. For anyone else in the future looking for this answer, I've found elsewhere that you can run 245/40 without pulling/rolling.
If anyone has real experience, please say so |

I'm interested in a 245 on my 2010 sedan on coils as well. My final plan as of now sits at 18*9.5 with 245/35/18 federal 595 rs-r. My car won't be slammed but it should give me some solid rubber on the ground without having to modify fenders too much. Maybe just a roll.

It's not about just tire size, you also have to take wheel size, offset, and ride height into consideration and some people get pretty in-depth with their alignment specs too.

345s are pretty big. You'll have to do a lot of work. Probably won't even fit on the 9.5" wheel

Oh man finally came across the answer i was looking for haha thanks SWP n Gold. So i have a 08 Wrx hatch and wanted to go with the 18x8.5 +44 Rota Grids and wanted to go with either 235/40/18 or 245/35/18. I love the real meaty look. This fitment will be ok for MY08? And if anything i can role my fenders...any help out there? SWP n Gold?

I personally can't say for certain on the 245's... but I imagine they would fit with no mods. If you want meaty, go with the 235/40, unless you want to squeeze in a 245/40 instead of a 245/35. |

You know the meatier the tire the more happier i will be...well of course if it doesnt damage performance that much. I would actually love some 245 on their but do you really think they will fit the 08? I mean i thought about the 235 and thought they were going to be close? Has anyone ever tried this type of fitment yet?

The 2008s have the same amount of fender clearance as the 2009-2010 WRXs so no worries there. I was originally going to go with 245/40/18s, but then I read that Federals run a little wider than normal so I just got those in 235/40/18. They fit the 18x8.5 wheels really well and I have a feeling they're going to look really good when I get them mounted on the car. A 245/40 Federal is going to run close to what a 255/40 "normal" tire runs in terms of width. If you want a 245/xx/18 Federal on our cars, I would opt for the 35 sidewall so it will run close to a 255/35/18 "normal" tire which is the same diameter as stock (225/45/17). |

That's my plan. 245/35/18. Just worried about the width being too much but it should be OK. Thinking of rota grid in 18*9.5 et38 or dpt possibly, same size.

information overload
Like SWP n Gold mentioned...There are a lot of factors in fitting wheels and tires.
For reference, the stock 2008 WRX wheel/tires are as follows: Wheels: 17x7 +55 (5x100) Typical Weight: ~21lbs Tires: 205/50/17 Bridgestone Potenza RE92 High Performance All-Season Tire Typical Weight: ~21lbs Wheel + Tire Weight: ~42lbs For reference, the stock 2009-2010 WRX wheel/tires are as follows: Wheels: 17x7 +55 (5x100) Typical Weight: ~21lbs Tires: 225/45/17 Dunlop SP Sport 1 Summer Performance Tire Typical Weight: ~22lbs Wheel + Tire Weight: ~43lbs Those factors include: -height (adjustable w/ coilovers) -dampening (adjustable w/ coilovers or Koni shocks/struts) -wheel width (10" wheels are the largest I've seen on the 08-10 WRX) -wheel offset (the lower the offset number, the closer it gets to your fenders and the further away it gets from your suspension. Ex. +18 will "poke" 20mm more than a +38, provide more suspension clearance but less fender clearance) -tire width (265's is the largest I've seen on the 08-10 WRX) -tire height (rolling diameter - all three numbers of a tire's spec are used in calculating the tire diameter. Ex. 245/40/18 has a rolling diameter of 653mm, which is 19mm taller than the stock 09/10 rolling diameter. These are the tallest tires I've seen on a 08-10 WRX) 40 is the sidewall height expressed as a percentage of the tread width. Ex. 235/40/18 has a sidewall height of 94mm (235mm x .40 = 94mm). 245/40/18 has a sidewall height of 98mm (245mm x .40 = 98mm) -tire brand (certain brands and models of tires run larger than others, much like clothing. Ex. Star Specs and Federals run around 10mm larger than their competition. 265/35/18 Start Specs or Federals fit closer to 275's.) -camber* (adjustable rear control arms or rear camber adjustment bushings kit, front camber plates) *Camber specs typically should remain below -3.0 front and rear for daily driving when trying to optimize treadwear. To combat understeer, it is advisable to run equal to or greater negative camber front compared to rear. Ex. -2.0 front, -1.8 rear. Camber can and does affect the handling characteristics of your car. Your specs should be set for your driving goals. Alignment specs for track purposes are often NOT the same as alignment specs for daily driving. And depending upon your driving habits, i.e. highway commuting, camber can affect treadwear worse than city driving. ^Coilovers are adjustable. You can play with the height and dampening if you run into rubbing issues. Also, coilovers are more narrow than the traditional spring/strut suspensions. Here's a diagram to illustrate that fact: Widest Tire: For reference, the widest tire I've seen on an 08-10 WRX was Monkiboy's setup: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...postcount=5118 http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...postcount=5131 Wheels: 18x9.5 +35 Tires: Dunlop Direzza Star Spec 265/35/18 Suspension: AST 4100 Coilovers, Whiteline Rear Camber Adj. Bushings Kit Camber specs: -2.1 to -3.0 front, -1.3 to -2.1 rear Fender mods: rolled and pulled at all four corners He's had 3 different wheels with those same tires. They were the specs I just mentioned as well as 18x9.5 +38 and 18x9.5 +44. Tallest Tire: For reference, the tallest tire I've seen on an 08-10 WRX is my setup: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2419821 Wheels: Drag DR-31 18x9 +38 (+3mm spacer = +35) Tires: 245/40/18 Sumitomo HTR ZIII Suspension: GTWORX/Bilstein Impreza Cup Sport Kit, RCE Blacks, RCE Front Camber Plates, Whiteline Rear Camber Adj. Bushings Kit Camber specs: -2.0f, -2.0r Fender mods: rear fenders rolled, front fenders slightly pulled Widest Tire w/o fender mods: The widest tire I've seen run on an 08-10 WRX without fender modifications was 255/35/18. However, this was on a WRX running coilovers so the height and dampening were adjusted to accomplish this fitment without rubbing: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...&postcount=894 Wheels: Enkei RPF1 18x9.5 +38 Tires: 255/35/18 RE11 Potenza Suspension: Tein Super Street Coilovers Camber specs: unknown Fender mods: none Widest Wheel: Don't know if this guy is on Nasioc, but I found him on Instagram. Waiting to hear back from him to get more info on his setup. Wheels: WORK Emotion XD9 18x10 +18 Tires: 235/35/18 BFGoodrich G-Force T/A KDW 2 Suspension: ISC Coilovers, Agency Power Rear Control Arms, Whiteline Rear Adj. Toe Link Kit Camber specs: -2.5 front, -4.5 rear. Fender mods: Rolled at all four corners. Rear fenders also pulled. 400+ WHP and tire grip: And if you're worried about grip with higher horsepower, Binjoau's '09 puts down 510whp and he's running 235/40/18 Federal SS 595 without breaking loose: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2087669 For those looking to see what fits, go here FIRST: http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp Fender mods are very common. Some people are against doing it to their car, others don't mind. If the paint cracks during the process, it IS fixable. It's easier to touch up the paint IMO than it is to repair the fender if you rub because you opted not to modify your fenders. If you rub, you could be repairing the fender AND fixing the paint. You can't have your cake and eat it too. If you plan on running super wide rubber and be flush with your fenders, you will likely need to modify your fenders to avoid rubbing. ^ Great post with respect to fitment on the narrow body. Also good to know that the tires I'm about to put on won't break traction on a car with 510whp.

the blue car on XD9's, I would venture to say those are 18x10 +38's, not the +18's.
