Default SC: Subaru Showdown July 21: Autocross w/ NO WORKING THE COURSE!

Hey Subaru Owners, it’s that time of year again! Folger Subaru/Subaru of America is holding the Subaru Showdown at Carolina Motorsports Park on July 21ST! The event, for those who went last year, is an excellent opportunity to meet people within the Subaru and autocross communities, and enjoy your Subaru while blasting around a safe and controlled autocross course held on one of the best road courses in the South East!
The event is one day this year, but you get a lot of bang for your buck with this event. Autocross courses will be set up on both the East and West Courses of the road course (unlike last year where the West Course was an autocross and the East was a PDX), and THERE WILL BE NO WORKING THE COURSE!!! That’s right! All you do is show up, and run! The CMP staff will be taking care of the course and timing so that leaves more time for car setup and socializing, with no need to stand out working the course!

This is the perfect opportunity to try out autocrossing if you are new to the sport or have been considering giving it a try, with plenty of other Subaru owners to hang out with! It provides a safe environment to take your car to the limit, or just enjoy a spirited drive dodging some cones! There will also be ride-alongs in a brand new STi, the CMP kart track will be open throughout the event with free rides being given away throughout the day and there may even be a surprise guest making an appearance!
Subaru has put forth a major effort to make this event happen, and was really pleased with the outcome last year, but we need to make the turnout even greater this year so they can keep hosting events like this in the South East, so tell everyone you know! Event cost is $60 for a minimum of three runs on each of the courses, and $68 dollars for a minimum of three runs AND a barbecue dinner Saturday night! Entrants’ best times from each of the courses will be added for a combined time for the event, and this year’s setup should provide an excellent day of autocross with NO COURSE WORK and tons of cool Subarus from around the South East!

Online registration is REQUIRED and can be found, along with more information, at:

www.subarushowdown.com

Tell everyone you know as we need an excellent turn out to show Subaru that the South East means business when it comes to their cars!

Feel free to post up if you have any questions, this year should be a great event! We welcome spectators of all ages!!

Josh

BUT THERE'S MORE!! There will be three Palmetto Motorsports Club trackdays being given away at the event! Valued at $250 and can be used at any of the 40 track days held at CMP for the Palmetto Motorsports Club every year! Track days will be given to Fastest Time Pax, Fastest Time Raw and a third track day will be awarded to a random competitor! So come on out!

The track on the East course should prove to be VERY fast (as there isn't much you can do to slow that one down), but still remaining a safe environment for autocross! Register now as space is limited!!! www.subarushowdown.com

Also Subaru owners will receive $5 off registration! There is also an option to pay on site, but register now as space is limited!

Subaru owners or Subaru drivers? I'm a Subaru owner, but if I decide to bring my Camaro to this event, would I still get $5 off? If I have a non-Subaru-owning co-driver, would he get $5 off his registration?

Yeah, what she said! I should be there in Biggly's car.... though TECHNICALLY, I am on the title/loan for my nephew's Forrester XT... so I'm gonna qualify either way

It's actually a serious question, considering what happened at the last Subie Challenge I went to at Carowinds that ended up with some very unhappy Subaru drivers (that didn't own the Subaru they were driving).

preemptively I'm going to say with near 99% certainty that you have to show up/be driving a Subaru to qualify for he discount (i.e. you're registering to compete in a Subaru, co-drive or owned), but I will double check with the powers at be....continue to spread the word, we need a packed event!!

There is for the west course (what you'll find on youtube laeled as "CMP autocross" footage), but not for the east course as this is the first time an autocross will be run on the east course. The courses are also being set up by the track amnagement itself so it promises o be safe yet also extremey fun and fast, while fully utilizin the existing layout of the track

This is the West Course from last year's Subaru Challenge:

No clue how they're going to make an AutoX on the East course. That' straight from 7 down to 8 is gonna be nearly impossible to control speeds on without just making it a giant slalom. It's gonna be FUN!

I heard its going to be more like a circuit x. With some kinks and gates to throw off your corner entry.

novices are welcome! there will be instructors on hand to help out and ride along should you feel uncomfortable, especially on the faster east course.

Also there will be camping available on friday and saturday night at the track, and we're trying to get a large meet organized to so come out even if you don't feel like running, everyone will have a chance to win free passes for the go art track (which is a full kart road course) and ridealongs in some 2012 Subarus (2 STis, and we're working on getting a BRZ as well!).
