Default USDM STI Cluster in GC8

Anyone see any reason other than the harness not matching why i can't get this to work in an RS? I'm more specifically interested in the input/output voltages of the gauges, and the mileage indicator. Anyone have any concrete knowledge about it?

Yes i've searched.

You could custom mount the instrument cluster. Not saying it's easy, but it can be done. Once wired up the gauges will work fine.

Yeah Eby, i think so also.

I'm gonna try it. I have to get some measurements, to make sure the height and width isn't crazy off. But other than that, i think i can make it work, assuming the electrical is waaay off.

The wiring isn't that bad. I had put 2002 WRX gauges in my 1994 L. The wiring was the easy part. The 98+ dash has more room for the cluster height wise and it mounts in similar locations. So I think the swap would be easier than the 97 and earlier cars.

I never completely finished my install before I got my 1999 L to work with. I had the gauges mounted and wired up, but didn't finish the instrument cluster surround. I had it fiberglass'd up, just needed to do some finishing touches with bondo and paint. I had thought about doing the swap into my 1999 car, but I got a V5 STI cluster that I'm happy with.

Kingpin Performance is currently swapping a USDM STI dash into a GC8 which might interest you. They report that the dashboard is a close fit. Just another option to consider . . .

sell me ur gauge cluster. Your motor only goes up to 7000 rpm and u have a spare usdm wrx gauge cluster laying around. And my motor goes up to 8k so sell me it

I modded the USDM cluster to fit in a 97 prior though, they mount different than 98+. Besides the V5 cluster doesn't go up to 8k either.

If any of you swap clusters and swap out rather than hack your guage cluster harness, I need a 2000-2001 RS cluster harness.

Where'd the dash covering come from? Mine's always getting dusty and that looks pretty good.

let's say hypothetically I was doing a WRX swap. Would it be a feasible idea to use an sti cluster? How hard it is to get it to look nice like in the picture above?

its not hard to make it fit in the dash the mounting hole all line up(at least it did on the 04 wrx cluster i was gonna do) its very tight onthe side but the dash cam be trimmed the hardest part would be the wiring and then cuttign and glassing the bezel to cover the cluster
