Fuse Panel layout (kick panel)
I picked up a 96 Legacy wagon that has dual controls installed, for my wife and her RFD mail route. It had been sitting for a year forsale.
It is a 2.5 and has a few issues that I am working one at a time. Biggest issue is the battery tends to run down after a few days, and I have installed a real VOLT Meter gauge to monitor the chargeing system, in the cab. Battery has been replaced and I replaced the alternator. Chargeing shows 14 volts when its running but it has failed to start while she has been on her route at times. (will not turn over).I have had to carry a second battery and tools with her to swap out the battery 'just in case' . Also, recently, after its been running, if the motor is shut off, it will just crank sometimes and has to sit a while before it does start. Horn is INOP, an air bag light is on and a brake light is on also. I expect there is a roll connector issue but have not pulled the steering wheel off yet to check that out. What I dont have is the FUSE PANEL layout of the DS kick panel. There is no cover panel and there is no users manuel with the car. I have a Hayes book on the car, but it only shows fuse numbers in the schematics. Any one know where I can find a layout of the fuse panel? One would assume the panel would be arranged from left to right starting with fuse #1, but I want to be sure. I am new to this board and did a search with no results....

If you register on www.mysubaru.com you should be able to request a free owners manual. I don't know if the car being a 96 will be an issue but try and see.

Thanks Mulder, I'll give that a shot.
While working on the car yesterday, I found the fuse panel cover under the carpet, under the drivers seat so at least now I can ID fuse layout. I installed a new horn system with the Horn Button installed on the center console, so its convenient from either left or right hand drive use. 1 problem solved.... |

www.sl-i.net is full of BD/BG Legacy people
Id check out the cables running to the battery. If theyre corroded and what not id clean them up and add some electrical tape and dielectric grease. Same around the starter. if theres any aftermarket electrical stuff Id poke at those to find the source of the battery discharge. A general tuneup sounds in order (air oil and fuel filter, new oil, check plug wires and sparkplugs and compression while youre there). Id also check out the airbox system for any leaks. Since its been sitting for a year I imagine the gas in it isnt that fresh. New gas as maybe some fuel system cleaners could be in order. how many miles are there? 2.5L headgaskets are prone to fail if not replaced. Hoefully it hasnt been majorly overheated. |
