Correct, the dual adapter uses 1/8PT. If you need 1/8PT to 1/8NPT we do have those adapters too

Again, I am so late to notice any good product in this forum.

I probably will get one soon. But I am so new to this.
Is there anything else (like gasket, hardware) I need to get in order to get this install?
Any instruction (don't see it in your web page)?

Please help me out.

By the way, any plan for making the oil pan for FA motor?
If so, I will wait to get both together to do the work all at once.

Thread sealant. There are many types, but as long as it's automotive rated and you follow the application instructions you'll be good.

Yes, but it's a longer term project.

Not sure what pt is... Npt is "national pipe thread". I guess I'm just trying to verify that it's 1/8...assuming it's not bspt.

BSPT is now called just PT(though you'll still find it both ways some places).

No idea why that change was made, but it was

NO DO NOT force an NPT thread into the adapter, it might get tight once, they are both 1/8" but the thread pitch is different and you'll ruin the thread

NPT has a tapered thread for sealing, PT or BSPT is a straight thread. As previously mentioned, although they share the similar sizing, they are very different in thread pitch.

OK, since I am a fastener dork I need to sort some things out here

NPT is a US spec tapered thread dating back MANY years. It's extremely common. You may see NPTF (Fuel) stating to pop up in more places as it's slowly becoming more commonly used. They are completely compatible with each other, although you cannot take advantage of the NPTF (no thread sealant necessary) unless you have NPTF on both sides and the proper material compatibilities.

PT or formally BSPT (British Standard Pipe Thread) is the British version of a tapered pipe thread. This also follows some ISO specs which is why our metric Japanese cars are compatible with this thread standard in a few locations.

BSPP is a straight non-tapered thread; British Standard Parallel Pipe. I don't believe this is used ANYWHERE on our cars.

Compatibility between the thread standards is at your own risk. I have seen, and even in rare occurrences when there was no choice, done it myself. It's NOT recommended, but as an example a 1/8NPT and 1/8PT thread is similar in size and pitch. Enough so that with enough sealant and torque you have a pretty good chance of being leak free. It is not ideal and NOT recommended though.

Just dropped by my mechanic today. Seem like getting the oil pickup is a lot more work than expected. For sure gotta take the header off. According to him, I might need to take the beam off as well.
Any guidance?

In any cases I better save some money and mind as well get the header then do the work all at once.

Take what beam off, the engine cradle? That's the most difficult path I could think of taking. Even with removing the engine cradle I'm fairly certain you'd still need to at least remove the header to get to the pan bolts under it.

Unbolt the turbo to charge pipe (2 bolts). Remove turbo inlet (2 bolts). Remove J-Pipe fasteners (2 bolts) and support bracket bolt (1). Disconnect O2 connectors (2). Remove the turbo oil feed, drain, and breather lines (2 hose clams, 1 compression nut). Remove boost source and boost actuator lines (2 hose clamps). Remove header mounting nuts (6) and the turbo/manifold assembly drops down.

If you have a really good tool selection you can get away with only dropping the header, but you end up removing a bunch of heat shielding so it's kind of a wash time wise.

It seems like a lot, but it's just removal and install in reverse order

LOL, interesting, may be my mechanic just trying to scare the heck of me, so I don’t need to bother him to do the work.

Anyhow, if replacing the oil pickup will required to take the header off mind as well replace it with a better one.

On the pan/baffle how different is the unit for the BRZ FA20? I see that moroso has a product out for those.

^ Yes different. WRX and BRZ FA20 are different blocks despite having the same FA20 designation.

I'll be getting your oil pick up installed on my car tomorrow since they'll be replacing my cam actuators and what not! Definitely a plus for me increasing flow to the oil pump, increase oil pressure and AVSC. Definitely a must in my book with my built motor! Next is AOS (wink wink)

There is no tuning required for this right? This is a beneficial swap in and out with no worries install?
