ej22>ej25 n/a conversion wiring question
i have a 98L came with the 2.2. it already has the 25 in it. it runs and drives. but it will not idle properly with the 2.2 computer and harness running it. (the iac plug and harness are not the same) plus i have a friend that can tune 2.5 ecu's. if i just want to put a 2.5 ecu into it. how much needs to be changed to accomidate the new ecu?

What year is the EJ25? I'm guessing it's a SOHC phase II? If so, you have a hard road ahead to get the IAC right. The 98 used a 3 wire solenoid with a simple IACO(open), IACC(closed) and ground wire. The other types on newer IAC's aren't that simple. Even the 3 wire IAC from a 99 EJ22 is proving to be incompatable with the older ECU.
Changing up to a newer EJ25 ECU will pretty much include a complete harness merge. The 98RS ECU should be a plug and play affair if you wanted to go that route..... Jay |

its a 01 phase II shoc. ive been running it for over 3 years. only issue is that it idles at 2k rpm's. a friend of mine is doing a wrx swap and says i can take anything i want that he has left over. including his engine harness and ecu. so i was trying to figure out how much work would be involved to swap the harness so i can run the car right. also i have a friend that can flash the 2.5 ecu. (car is also turbo'd)

You'll need the Harness all the way back to the ECU....which your friend will also need I imagine.
The 01 EJ25 has a 6pin stepper motor as the IAC, so your only choices are to: 1: Come up with a 4 coil stepper motor controller and put it between the ECU and motor. 2: Fabricate a port on your intake manifold to attach the external IAC from your 98L motor. 3: Perform a harness merge to run the 01 EJ25 ECU. 4: Forget the factory ECU and go standalone.
