Default Okthe misfire codes wont stop..

I keep getting a misfire in 1 and 3 every 3-5 days.. It is a solid cel.. What the hell is causing this? The car is running decent.. Could it be a bad coil pak? Please any help would be great i am tired of resetting my ecu..

Im having the same problem - normally under partial throttle but on boost. Takes about 3 restarts of the car and the cel goes away. Sound familiar? I was thinking about switching to cold plugs - anyone have a solution?

Do a compression check. Lower compression will cause the codes. But it may not be low enough to where you can feel a difference.

Hopefully it is not the cause Also our coil packs have been known to go out.

Nope i have ecutek, and the cel's are solid not flashing.. I did a comp test and all 4 were low, but the car still runs fairly good so i began to think i might need a better guage.. THe spark plugs looked good when i pulled them during the com test.. I dont know what is causing this.. The car has 50k+ miles but was always taken care of and i would say compared to a lot of other people i absolutley baby the car..

My cel is on all the time. I just ignore it now. THe car runs great all the time. Some people say it is because of the Unorthodox Racing underdrive pully, others say it is because of the ClutchMasters aluminum flywheel. Either way, always the same thing..Misfires 1,2,3,&4. Factory ECU with a Apex-i AVC-R set at 17 PSI running 93 oct. all the time (except track events then its 101). Anybody have any ideas????SOA??? anybody?

i get 1-4 constantly. i have just learned to not pay attention anymore. i too have been told it may have something to do with the lightened flywheel. i know it happens alot on the dsm's as well. if the car checks out and runs good, forget about it.

I think I was getting those codes too- when they sent in my ecu for re-programming/reflash

may want to ask the dealer- see if they can tell you which codes would constantly get thrown

speed safely

I have had a constant CEL for 1 & 3 misfire. Had the plugs changed today but I'm expecting it to come back. Have had a reflash and that didn't help. Next step is gonna switch the coil packs to the other side. If 2 & 4 show up, that's the culprit. If not, I'm thinking an air/fuel sensor may be bad.

I have the HKS grounding kit as well as a new OEM Subaru O2 sensor. Still the same...the CEL came back on within 3 miles of the new O2 swap out. At $120.00 each...I dont want to make a habit of changing then out. I am also running a new set of NGK Iridium BKR7EIX-11 plugs...Same thing once again. Oh well...I'll just live with it.

There are 3 02 sensors one for each cat. Did you replace all 3 of them? It was my understanding that these measure the efficiency of the catalytic converters mostly.

This one's kinda out there, but another theory going around on this is the black topped coolant reservior on the '02's. The black paint comes off in the coolant and could block coolant passages causing hot-spots leading to some pinging.

My car has gotten the misfire codes for 1,2, and 3 quite a bit over the last year. But I've switched to the newer silver coolant reservior and haven't gotten another cel since. But, then again, it has only been a week and a half since the swap.

Cronic: I have right at 17,000 miles on her.
O2R6: No, VF34 with external Tial wastegate.
Thumper23: My car only has 2 O2 sensors. One on the header and one on the downpipe. I have a HKS header, up-pipe, and downpipe. No cats. We can get away with it here.

Try this. Sit at an idle and turn you ac on. Sit there for a bit with it on and see if you get a cel. This is what happened when #4 went on me a while back. I would get the code while I was driving always 1 or 4. but with the ac on it happened more often. See if the problem gets worse with the ac on. If it does chances are it is time for a short block.
