Well, today we rinsed the car off and the passenger headlight developed condensation in it just above the city light area and I noticed the steering column plastic cover does not center over the ignition switch and feels a little loose. Guess I'll compile a list so when we bring it in for the rear strake kit install I have them look at these items.

I'm sure they work great, but they still look like golf clubs sticking out the middle of the door. They're out of place that way and ruin the look. I don't understand the reason behind putting them there except to copy Honda.

The reason is for visibility. Having them mounted on the doors vs the normal spot gives you the ability to see in a critical area, through the small triangle window. There are functional reasons for the size and position of the mirrors. Subaru is all about safety.

Sedan looks like a carry or corolla.

Hatchback looks like Toyota matrix or new Honda fit.

I think the reason for moving the mirrors back had little to do with adding the little windows and everything to do with eliminating blind spots so you can see vehicles to each side. Actually I am pretty sure I read that somewhere, but I wasn't in the design team meeting.

Either way it works for me, if you don't like the look of the car or any of its features there are other cars you can buy.

The mirrors actually weren't moved BACK all that much. They're just door mounted as opposed to mounting in that triangular area where we have that additional window pane now. So they're larger & mounted differently. I love them just as they are & I agree, if ya don't like it there's other cars available. Can't imagine not buying a car because of the mirrors but hey, to each their own.

Actually the mirrors didn't move at all in relation to the wheels and doors. The wheelbase did move 1" longer, but what makes the mirrors look like they moved was due to the windshield angle being less steep and being pushed forward more. This is why the little triangular window had to be placed there.

2012

2011

both combined to show comparison

That's convincing enough for me. I think the mirrors are bigger than last year, but maybe not. In any case when you use them correctly no one is going to be driving to the sides without being seen.

When you put last years and this years up side by side like that I definately prefer the styling this year.

Though I did kind of like the LED brake lights on the previous generation...

They are bigger, just not any further back. I agree with you on the LEDs too. While I love the design because it's not the traditional screaming Subaru at you, I do miss the signature tell pieces on the tail like the LEDs.

Picture time! This is my second 2012 Impreza. First one was a Premium sedan with CVT (which was lemon-lawed), and this one is a limited.

First white I have seen, looks good! I wish the white came with the dark interior and I would have gotten it as well!

Cars look great! My fiance and I went and test drove a Satin White Premium today and loved it!

Unfortunately the people at the dealership knew nothing about the cars, and the sales manager was a sleezbag. So we'll be taking our business elsewhere.

I think we're going to try and order one in Satin White, with leather, and the all-weather package.

Don't care about premium wheels because I'll just get us something different. And we could take it or leave it on the sunroof.

How is everyone liking the car so far after a few thousand miles? The 2.0L engine seemed a bit loud, and there was some wind noise on the hwy at 74mph. Are there any solutions out there for the wind noise? Better window seals?

Can't wait to be in one soon!

Sounds like you'll end up with the Limited since you want leather. It comes with the all weather package as well & upgraded 17" alloy wheels standard on a Limited.

I love mine! Wind noise isn't something noticeable to me but my stereo is usually pretty loud.

I just really liked the way the WSP looked with the gunmetal wheels. Very unique and sporty. I do wish they had it with a darker interior. I'm super nervous about spilling anything on it. Scotch guarded everything the day I brought her home. The leather is nice but I really like the feel of the cloth. Very soft and warm. The all weather mats are absolutely a necessity!

This car howls at highway speeds. It may be especially noticeable for me as I keep my music quiet and I come from driving a BMW X5. However, I think it is to be expected that Subaru did away with some sound deadening while trying to keep the weight of the new car down. It is no comfortable highway cruiser due to the noise but a very good city/town car.
