Default 07 sti can't start

Hi all,
Vrgs just phoned me emergency that he couldn't start his 07 sti. He tried to install the aftermarket alarm this afternoon. He take one ECu wire to touch with another wire. After that, the car can't even start but can hear the "click" "click"sound. could anyone explain this situation?

When you turn the car from OFF to ON it should click click (starter) and whine (fuel pump).

If there's a LOUD click click, it can be a dead battery or a drained battery.

Maybe your buddy messed up installing his alarm?

he said the stereo and cd works. That means the battery is not dead. Also, he tested that the battery is 12v so far. But he can't use the Defogger. Does that mean the ECU is Dead or the ECU wire is wrong connected. We are not sure now

I knew it was trouble when I saw this:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1373716

Honestly, tell your buddy to go back and re-trace ALL his steps and re-solder all the wires back to his ECU and see if the car starts. Although it is tedious, at least he'll know if it is a fried ECU or not. If the car starts back up, he can either re-do the wiring for the alarm or bring the hack-job to a shop and they'll charge him 2x as much as if he brought it in in the first place. Or if it doens't start, then he really has some problems.

Probably doesn't mean much but maybe he spliced the ignition wire by mistake because it seems like he is getting fuel and spark?

i wasnt dumn enough just to randomly try out each wire. however, even with the multimeter, i am capable of burn out the fuse, i am quite surprised.

anyways, thanks to fujiwara_yingyu

also, tim, based on the fact you were laughing at me in this thread.

Haha i was reading and gonna post starter fuse! But scrolled down and found out that you got it. Just make sure you disconnect the battery before you do any electrical stuff on your car.

Remote start requires the tach wire so the alarm brain knows the car is started.

yup. for sure next time. i am exhausted today,. maybe tomorrow would be better luck. the pervious installation guy did a great job of imitating those wire to be like factory ones, but also did a huge mess under my dash. i was planning migrating them to be somewhere in the radio console, but...you all know what happened.

sucks....
