general consensus is you're fine. Lots of people have had them in for years and I've never heard of there actually being a problem. I have them, and I'm not worried at all.

well I already had urethane outrigger bushings, which transmit some diff noise into the car so I didn't notice a big change in the NVH regard. I didn't really notice a huge change in how the car feels and handles, either. But, it did center the crossmember onto the chassis and my toe alignment bolts actually ended up zeroed out.

Careful prep determines whether the install is easy or a fiasco. Clean the holes and threads as much as possible, loosen all 4 subframe bolts. Anti-sieze the lock bolts, before you attempt to install them.

On a rusty car, you might want to think twice about installing them.

I do all the above steps and then I carefully run up a thread chaser into the holes. NOT A TAP. This will ensure you don't get the bolt half way up and realize there's a problem. The threadchaser has grooves along the thread to clean up little burs and surface corrosion on the threads.

+1 and I'd also recommend putting a dab of anti-sieze on the bolts to help them go in smoothly.

wish i had anti-sieze and a chaser before installing mine. All i had to install mine with was a tq wrench, extension and the socket. O and the car stayed on the ground.

and having a long prybar to 'wiggle' the subframe around helps too

go slow....ya may have to screw them in a bit and back them out several times and clean the threads....

I have an 07 wagon and just did the out rigger bushings and the kartboy lock down bolts. yes there is only 10,000mi on the car but I sprayed the holes with penetrating oil then put anti sieze on the bolts. I had no problems at all no loosening of the other subframe bolts. also backed the car up un a set of rhino ramps to give me room and it took less then a half hr and a call to TIC to double check. The bolts will bottom out so the bolt head and the sleave lip will not sit flush with the bottom of the car this is normal. the lock down bolts are to stop side to side and foward and back movement of the rear subframe not up and down. I still have to do the diff bushings but what I did so far has made a noticable difference esp. in a wagon wich has noticeable flex over a sedan due to lack of rear wall.

The diff bushings are easier than the lock bolts. which bushings did you get?

I have the kartboy diff bushings. the outrigger bushings were a joke. the diff bushings are more involved. have to put the car on ramps support the diff with a jack. then remove the 4 17mm bolts and get the stock bushings out. I also have the group n trans mount and engine mounts and the TIC trans crossmember bushings.

I have the tic version of these bushings you WILL notice a difference in NVH. it's like the diff is in the rear seat. I heard it more with the R160 than i do now with my R180.

but how did it handle? what cars have the r160 and the r180 what is the difference? I have the tic trany crossmember mounts also. is the nvh that bad or is it liveable? I an trying to remove all driveline slop and have the rear handle better on my wagon. I also have the whiteline steering rack bushings to do. my ultimate goal is a 400hp to the floor dd

Also how about helping me out instead of being a JO? I have an 07 wagon that has less than 10k on it, bought it brand new with the intent of doing mods. I have been running it on a custom street tuned stage 2 since about 5 months of owning it. Yes I am basically new to subaru. I have had a 99 neon rt worked and a 98 honda prelude juiced and worked on that ran low 13s at 100mph. I was going by what my tunners told me. What is reasonable out of a 2.5lt with a 20g fmic and all supporting mods and still be reliable? I could use help not mockery.

It's not unrealistic it just costs a boatload, like scotty said. You already said you're doing the ppg gears.

Crap shoot though. I'm on an '04 FXT tranny and I know a guy with a stock '05 wrx tranny with 550whp

the most expensive part is building a bullet proof tranny, the rest is a lot but not that bad. My buddy has an 05 with a completely built trans and motor it puts 550 to the floor with 589 tq. but his problem now is his rear.
I was told that 385-400 is not difficult with the 2.5

The diff bushings have no affect on handling. Zero. They tighten up the driveline and might make it easier to get power down (but, conversely will deliver more shock load to the transmission).
