Question Front Parking Light LEDs

Has anybody ever heard of problems with COPs and LED front parking lights? They are the tiny (168, 5W) bulbs that are kind of useless?

I'm thinking of getting some white ones with a 5 LED matrix rated at 46000 mcd. But, if they potentially attract too much attention from COPs I'd rather go with the single LED setup.

I have LED city lights on my '06 (ask Picard or Spy how they look ) I use them at dusk before using headlights, and I have no DRLs, and haven't had trouble with the Cops. Mine are PIAA Terra 4300K LED city lights. I will post a pic in a bit.

How many LEDs are attached one of those PIAA Terra lights? I'm having trouble finding information online about those LEDs since all my search results are turning up Japanese (though I've only spent 2 minutes searching )

Ok, I just took a couple of crap pics (really really crap) in my parkade for you:

I bought them from Car-Gym in Hong Kong, through Amazon.com:

It looks like a single LED, albeit a bright one. It's small unit, that has instructions only in Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Dutch or German

I agree, it looks great on SubieDrift's car- I'm sure you won't get hassled since there's still tonnes of older cars out there on the road that don't even have parking lights, besides the LED's are still giving out light...

SubieDrift: Wow that was really fast! That looks really cool! Thanks for the pictures!

I just did some calculations, the ones I am interested put out 46000 mcd, or roughly 490 lumens at a 270 beam angle (roughly equivalent to a 40W incandescent light blub, according to this and this).

I think I'll go with the single LED setup.

I didn't put that much thought into them, they aren't meant to light up the road at all, so I just bought ones that looked cool to me They do make the housings glow a nice white/blue though, and make a nice "DRL" at dusk before you need headlights, but want people to see you still.

J-Chow: Thanks for the pics! I just placed an order for some LED's. I actually went to Parker Place, but they didn't have the type I wanted. I'll post some pics when I get mine. Yellow fog bulbs are also on the way.

just to let u guys know who are thinking about the LED lights.. if they're white or yelloish, then it's ok, but if they're blue like jchow, then r asking for trouble... either i was unlucky or it really is illeagal... i got pulled over once when the cop saw my blue LEDs... the first thing he did without even talking to me after pulling me over was look at my headlights and coment on how my blue LEDs are illeagal... so yea jsut a warning if you dont want trouble with cops...
