Dec 8 @ CMP: Subaru Owners AutoX/PDX
Hey all! Folger Subaru has decided to host another event for the Subaru community at Carolina Motorsports Park December 8th! It will be run like the Subaru Challenge a few years ago where the East Course will be an autocross (the one that’s visible from the paddock/kart track) and there will be a pdx/pde on the West Course (the bigger one obscured by trees). This event is run through Folger Subaru not Subaru of America this time around and we hope to have a good turnout so we can keep hosting these in future. After the last event CMP bought all new timing equipment so hopefully it will alleviate any issues that occurred during the summer event (also running a track day on the West Course should help, cone chasing on the back of that is rough).
This should prove to be an excellent day of racing for any experience level, and if you’ve been looking to get into autocross this would serve as the perfect inaugural event, especially since there won’t be any die hards there fighting for season points. Hope everyone can make it, we will have the kart track open and have plenty of room for spectators. Ride alongs will also be permitted with autocross drivers (so long as you are not a novice) and there will be plenty of opportunities for spectators to get a ride along to see what it’s like out on track. Pricing and the registration site are still getting ironed out, and I will post up once I get that information. If you have any questions feel free to email me at [email protected] and I will do my best to assist you. Registration will be open to all makes and models, though we will be charging less for you Subaru owners . Mark the date and I'll keep you posted, Josh

Does PDX and Auto-X cost the same? Is it possible to do both or is there only time for one or the other?

I'm out... The STi needs larger fuel injectors before I get out on track again... Plus I've got a wine tasting that I have to use before the end of the year and this is the perfect opportunity since the following two weekends I have to use to fly 8 Apache's back from Texas to NC.. It's a hard life

So PDX and AutoX can or cant be done together, assuming you pay for both.
I really wish i had the coin for 3 sets of tires/rims. Summer, race, and winter. Why cant i live somewhere there is only 1 season. |

^ I wouldn't think it'd be possible. You'd really want to do one or the other. Do the PDX.
I called CMP this afternoon. She said she'd call me back with the details of the PDX/Time Trials. |

Alright, here's what I have on the PDX. CMP is calling it a Time Trial, so I'm not sure if you must have prior experience in general or at CMP specifically.
MotorsportReg Link: http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.c...F#.UKuLWGfAkdQ And here's the e-mail I received last night from Sylva: Quote:
I've asked for clarification on experience, helmet requirement (M or SA), rules for each TT class, and transponder rental. |

Hmm, hopefully I can do the PDX, I have plenty of autox experience but no actual track time. While my car is stock, it likely should be in the modified class. Either way it should be fun.

I didn't think there was a timing loop on that side. When did they install that?

So a snell m 2005 helmet is ok to use?
And as a "novice" i have to have an instructor or are they optional? Guess i can beat up on the stock class cars. Stock BOSS 302 and a stock WRX/STI have a large speed difference. I hope they have multiple passing zones/straights. |

As for the M vs SA, if it were up to me I wouldn't allow M helmets for full blown track events. For an AutoX it's okay, but for track events where worse crap is likely to happen, I'd say SA rating should be mandatory. They're tested for multiple impacts, because in a car you're going to be strapped in with plenty of things to hit your head on (window, rollbar, b-pillar, etc)... and are rated for flammability. Motorcycle accidents you're more likely to hit the ground and slide.... one impact, and away from any possible flames. |
