2012 WRX 6 speed swap
I've done some research and there's plenty of information for older wrx transmission swaps but I can't find a complete parts list for my year. What would be required to do a 6 speed swap on a 2012 hatch? Anyone have a parts list?
Initially I was looking at the PPG route but it looks like the consensus is the 6 speed is stronger and cheaper... Rewind a few months and I'd probably just sell and buy an STI but I've got a built motor now (spun bearing) so i'm in-it to win-it now. |

You will need pretty much everything, except engine.
Transmission, rear differential, driveshaft, axles, hubs, brembos, dccd controller... Gonna run you around 5k just for parts. |

Alrighty, I was seeing on some models you could keep your axles and whatnot. Just put some stoptech's on so maybe i'll hold off until it grenades. I've been looking into some blast plates when I have to freshen up the clutch, maybe that's what i'll do for now.

It has been discussed multiple time...
You can reuse your front axles. You can also reuse your rear axles if you keep your rear diff (r160). At a minimum, you will need a transmission (with a FD that match your rear diff), trans mount, shifter linkage (STi 08+), STi (08+) or automatic driveshaft, STi starter and a STi clutch and flywheel |

Ok, awesome. Do we know the limits of the wrx driveline compared to the STI? If the diffs and axles can hold what i'm planning to put down, I see no reason to swap at this time. You mentioned that I would need a front diff to match the rear diff, what do you mean by that? If I use my r160 do I have to have a specific year sti transmission? I was going to look for a '10-'14.

I know that someone has mentioned a way to use the R180 with 5x100 hubs, just need different rear axle shafts. I'll do some digging, but I'm sure someone will beat me to it.

There has also been 3 people on here who have reported the sti axle & r180 also WILL work on the narrow body 5x100. (I have DSS axles on my r180 swap 08, 5x100. It took a few tries until they got me the ones that fit. I ended up mix & matching the ones they sent. I haven't measured, but I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up with sti sized vs the 1/4", or whatever, difference between the sti & narrowbody wrx axle length.) |

Negative. When I did the swap, the sti shaft wasn't considered usable, the 3 people that said they worked came after I swapped.

According to monkiboy in xlubens 6 speed swap thread:

"i have the r180 installed on my 08 WRX with the 05 STI 6MT using 09 STI outers and JDM v7 inners (any 05-07 STI inners will work). i believe i mentioned this to you in our discussion, but perhaps my memory fails me. i got the idea from another member who has been running the similar setup for over 30k miles without hiccup. it's a great solution." Also, spec b axles were mentioned as well. |

Alrighty, after doing some sifting from this thread: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...3#post39696583
It looks like all I need (11-14 WRX)will be: 08+ transmission(linkage, sti starter, sti clutch fork, crossmember) 3.54 R180 Rear Diff (08-14?) STI Driveshaft 08-14 STI Axels 08-14 I should be able to keep everything else. Basically I should be able to buy a drive line part-out from any 08-14' STI. That's the current list but i'll see if there's anything else. Edit: Forgot DCCD controller |

Do you know any of those 3 users? And do you know if any of them are still active on here? I've been pretty out of the loop of NASIOC's goings on in the last 4 years or so. Parked the car when the trans went and I think I'm finally going to have the time and money to get around to it.

I have a 2008 WRX (narrow body). I swapped a R180 (with a 6 speed) and I used 08 STi axles for the rear. It works fine with the WRX hubs.
