Round 12
Okay then, round 12 shows a recent addition to the car.
With the car taking shape the way it was, i had been on the look out to change my drivers seat for something more purposeful. Some may think im nuts but i didnt see the need to change the passengers seat as i have lots of different sized passngers. Some larger than others that were not cut out to fit in tiny carbon bucket seats. Besides, i might want to sit in a silly seat but im damn sure my girlfriend wouldnt put up with getting in and out of it. :lol1: Id been looking around and finally decided on a Recaro Profi SPA. Whilst weighing up the phenominal cost of the profi i was by fluke offered a Recaro Pro Racer SPA. (This was the seat i wanted but included the high sided head restraint) Initially i thought it was nuts but i couldnt let it go. :lol1: The only way i would put teh seta in the car wasd to make runners for it that were as close to OEM quality as possible. I looked at various options to get it to fit but i wanted it perfect. determind on getting it perfect i decided the only way to get runners that were OEM quality was to use OEM runners. So thats exactly what i did. I purchased another set of STI 7 runners from Grade A and cut them to suit. I am in no way exagerating if i said ifitted the seat and runners over 100 times in 3 months before i was happy the mockup runners were perfect. Getting the seat in the car was no problem. However, getting it where i wanted to be seated was probably one of the most frustrating things ive ever had to do. The finished runners were fully welded, blasted and painted gloss black and fit perfectly. I was very happy with the end result. Even more so when the OEM seat i removed was 20.8Kg. The replacement carbon/kevlar item was only a mere shave under 6Kg. Here are my finished pictures, the car feels amazing to drive strapped in it. My biggest concern wa visibility but amazingly i have lost almost no visibility i previously had. |

Since then the car has gone back to Mocom for some more power. She is now running a set of Zircotec ceramic coated GT Spec gen 2 headers and a Forced Performance "Green" turbocharger. It is permanantly mapped to run a concoxion of Methanol, Toluene and Vpower.
I have no power figures for it, not that i care to be honest. But 1.7 bar peak and 1.6 bar held feels ferociously lively on the road. So heres the car at present... but where will it go from here? Well, if you didnt already know, the quest fro more power is well on its way with the components pile ever growing. A big BHP forged 2.5ltr build is coming very soon. Here are the list of parts i have here waiting to be fitted. Engine: Brand new EJ257 block Brand new EJ257 crank ACL race series main/big end bearings Wiseco forged pistons Carrello forged conrods ARP head studs Cometic head gaskets RCMS modified oil pump Brand new OEM Subaru water pump APS DR725 front mounted intercooler Hyperflow top mounted oil cooler APS 70mm wing mounted CAI Custom Bailey Motorsport oil separator and catch tank (Fully aeroquiped) Mocom Racing parallel fuel rails (Fully aeroquiped) Misc stuff: (All new) KW variant 3 coilovers Pagid RS29 brake pads Another front bumper lol Odessey PC680 race battery Heres some teaser pics So watch this space as the view from the windows of the Prodrive Edition is about to become seriously blurred |

wow... just wow.. that is one of the nicest builds I have seen. The only thing I'm not too crazy about is the graphics, but to each their own. The welds on the exhaust are some of the nicest I've ever seen. Great car man, makes me want a bug eye :P

Thats a photo from the 'ring - you don't need to wear helmets It's basically "just" an unrestricted toll road. If you crash, you'll be too busy worrying how your going to pay for the recovery, the time the 'ring is closed and all the Armco you've just wiped out to worry about your own head

Subscribed, awesome story! I couldn't stop reading....but there is no more to read! Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I am interested to know how you are liking the brake setup and how it compares for day to day driving vs. track.

Had a little fiddle about with this this morning.
Just a dummy run so i can get everything sitting right, cut the relevant areas etc, get the spare bumper cut and then get it all painted. To say this thing is rather large is a little understatement and it looks like it will take 10bar lol Sorry for the fone pics, but thought the weather was too nice not to take a few. |
