This weekend I had the first chance to crack open the dash on my old 1994 and found a fairly clean looking rats nest of wires. I took out the Pioneer head unit that was still set for Japanese FM radio stations and installed an Atoto head unit. I had planned to keep the cigarette lighter socket and add an in dash TPMS socket from Amazon but looking at the fitment once it was put together I hated it. The way that it sits now the pocket on the bottom is the perfect size for a current Iphone 13 mini and the top pocket leaves enough space that it's not blocked when the cup holder is extended.
This is the rats nest when I took the dash cover off, Fairly clean but the positive and ground had been tapped for a gauge at some point :

I used this wire diagram that matched what the Japanese owner had used in the past to update to the pioneer head unit :

....And I got really angry with myself when I cracked the surround trying to get it over the bottom pocket.
